GEARBOX OIL

After having read several posts about changing the gearbox oil I took it upon myself today to change the gearbox oil in my 2004 2.2. 42k I took advice from Opie Oils and ordered the mid range priced Fuchs Oil,a mix of ATF and Syntrans £30 delivered.The job only took about 30mins working on my driveway with the car jacked as high as I could.Previous posts have stated 1.5 to 1.6 litres of oil,I only drained approx 1 litre and could only refill with 1 litre before the filler plug overflowed.
The gear change has noticeably improved and is now much smoother, so thanks to those who have recommended this in the past.
 
For diff oil I went with this, commonly used on BMW's Castrol Syntrax Longlife 75w.-90 Fluid, my 3.0 SE takes about 1.4 litres.
 
Loosen the filler plug before draining the oil,you do not won't to drain the oil and then find you cannot undo the filler plug.Filler plug/drain plug both 17mm.I used a 1 ltr container with 10cm nozzle and squeezed the oil in as space is limited.
 
My gear box felt a lot better for the few weeks I had her before she sold. Going to get my new car done.

Was your car jacked level as that could account for the low amount to fill?

Also odd Opie recommended a mix of ATF, but they should know what they are rendoing
