Gearbox oil

I was going to change the gearbox oil over the weekend - what do you guys recommend?

Ravenol MTF-2, works very well for me so far and has excellent specifications on paper, very close to OE fluid in viscosity but better cold performance.

I use MTF LT3 from BMW that’s what they use on these cars now rather than LT2

Be careful the diff requires either BMW oil or oil and a friction modifier by red line which is out of stock in the UK

I recommend a very good oil syringe and buy lots more than you need as a fair bit if not half of it will end up running down your arm to your elbow and shoulder it also smells horrible and does not wash of easy

ALWAYS ALWAYS remove the fill plug first then the drain plug

If the drain comes out and you then have a problem with the fill plug you are in a new world of pain
