Gearbox and diff oil

Mr bmw says gearbox and diff sealed for life no need for change of fluids,we’ll he must be right he builds the car , right.
Here is a pic of the residue after draining both on my 2003 2.5 with 61500 miles.
Looks like I found gold in there.

Always seen flakes in any gearbox I've drained, it's quite normal that the gears and synchros are going to wear slightly over time.

No doubt BMW claim it's filled for life as it makes the routine servicing seem simpler and cheaper, but as enthusiasts all accept, there's no such thing as a lifetime oil!

To be fair the oil looks very clean.

I couldn't see through my box oil at 70k!
