Gear Knob Change

On my earlier E85 Z4 it was easy enough to just pull off the old gear knob and replace.
I have just tried the same on my E89 and the whole thing came off and all I want to change the leather end bit....
How to I pull the end bit out of the leather bag without causing any damages?

That was me!!

If you turn the gaiter inside out you will see a plastic bit right at the top, this clips into the gear knob, if you can wiggle the clips free the two parts come apart

yeah pull the leather foreskin back to reveal the plastic tabs which can be unclipped
