G'day from Aus' (Cairns)

Currently looking out of the hotel window at the Cairns Marina, to the hills in the distance. It is 6.30am (tomorrow for you) Hundreds, if not thousands of parrot type birds have woken up and gone into a frenzy flying about like mad gits. People are already out power walking, running, cycling around the quay and on the esplanade. The sky is gun metal grey, doom laden clouds scudding right to left. The planes have also just woken up at Cairns airport about 6 miles away.

Into our 4th week and my poor Z is still sitting at home God, I miss it. Not driven it since it was clumped in the works car park and UK Assist buggered up repairs.

If anyone is interested, I posted a bit of vid on youtube, with a funked up acid type didgeridoo music. If you get into the groove, feel welcome to throw a few shapes!

G'day mates.

Cheers matey. Got the CD from one of those street performers that do their stuff around the Rocks in Sydney. I NEVER, EVER buy this sort of stuff. But I got so caught up in the mood I shelled out AUD$10 for it. I love it and it is going to feature in the Z play list when I get home. The CD is inmy case as we are moving hotels but will dig it out and PM you.

By the way, I am sure I recognise another well known tune contained within the track, I just cannot put my finger on it.

Great vid mate brings back memories of last year when i was in Sydney remember those boys around the harbour would always stop and listen on my way back to hotel as i was staying in the Rocks area were the human statues still there ? one was dressed as a toy soldier superb.

Nice video, like others it reminds me of my time in Australia: almost a full month spent there in Dec 2006. Cairns, Sydney and Brisbane with a few stops at Ayers Rock, Coff's Harbour, Surfers Paradise and others along the way. Almost exclusively youth hostelling along the way too

Would love to go back, perhaps permanently :(

Great Vid Petach,
Just confirmed what I already suspected, your as mad as hatter.
Never been to Oz or had any inclination to but after watching that it may just make my "places to visit" before i peg it.

BTW, loved the sound track, can you PM me the details as well m8

Our last day in Cairns. Will be very sad to leave. Loved it here. Clean, tidy, vibrant.......but expensive! It is not just about snorkeling the reef or seeing the crocs (which we did) but lots to do in country side too.

My head was sucked by some leech type of thing without me realising it. Then I got caught up in the "Wait awhile tree". So called by the natives, it has dense thorn coverage and if you get caught up in it, you have to wait awhile till a friend gets the thorns off to release you, or something comes along and kills then eats you. If I crashed in the jungle, I'd be first to die there!

Watched scores of thousands of bats take off from trees outside the town library last night to lay waste to some poor farmers fruits trees. The sky was black with them. There was mayhem as hundreds of Ibis birds screeched in fright, then the cockatoo's flew about like mad gits. Will try and post a vid when back (if you can tear me away from my Z........told my wife I am going to sleep in it for a week)

Fantastic life style here, friendly people, very diverse population that seems to get along fine.

One thing I did notice was this. Low police presence anywhere (in towns and on the roads) not much heed to health and safety issues either.
