Gay Pride in London Today

Very disappointed by some of the attitudes displayed in this thread. Shoved down throats? Nobody forces you to pay the slightest bit of attention.Perhaps LGBTs feel that the cisgender heterosexual 'normal' is shoved down their throats 364 days a year? The average pub conversation is more like throat shoving.

if somebody wants to have a party so be it

I have absolutely no issues with any sexuality, in fact I'm sure I'd have better luck if I turned

Gay - Straight - Black - Brown - Green - Whatever....just get on with it -
if you don't like it don't get involved !

I personally don't like tennis ????? So I don't watch Wimbledon !

Thats not a sensible comparison. Nobody has ever prosecuted people for liking tennis, and tennis fans are hardly a minority. They also don't go on marches to celebrate their love of tennis.

The point I made is that I don't understand why people march to show their pride at being gay. The very act of this tells the world that you're different to the majority, when most gay people want their sexuality to be irrelevant.

surely they are supporting each other and letting the world know there is nothing wrong with being gay

Ah come on Mr W. You're better than that.

How about Africa, where millions (of heterosexuals) have died from the same thing?

Perhaps you'd like to explain what is wrong with it?

Its just personal opinion & belief,s , much like politic,s, car brand,s ,holiday destination,s etc
Some think being gay is ok & some don,t , it,s life & whilst i don,t judge anyone for having their own thought,s i don,t want to feel pressured into saying i,m cool with something when i,m not .

I get that Mr Wilks, but if one of your best mates / children were gay and couldn't tell you, that's not cool either

My daughter now 18 has had a boy "best friend" since 10/11 who has recently made the switch / we kinda guessed a while ago but it seem,s his first year away at Uni has underlined it .
Daughter is fine with it & i have zero issues with the situation . He,s always been welcome & will continue to be , i don,t go out at weekends campaigning against homosexuality , i just happen to have a opinion that it isn,t right & i don,t want to see it openly played out as "normal" whether that be a carnival or TV

Whether something is 'normal' or not doesn't have any bearing on right or wrong. how do you define normal, anyway? If it's based on %age of people who conform, then it's really not normal to meet up and stare at each other's cars, for example....

I don't march or get involved in the whole 'out and proud' thing but it is a good day and usually lots of fun.

If you don't like it or want to see it then fair enough but it's just one day.

People always seem surprised that I'm into sport and cars and drink beer and can do DIY and am not 'stereotypical' in anyway!

A bunch of us guys were out for dinner last week and the woman on the table opposite asked (when her husband went to the loo) which airline we worked for? We all took it in good humour but it just went to show how some of those stereotypes stick.

Anyway, Brighton pride is in August.... See you there lol!!

As i have said , it,s purely my own opinion that the whole gay concept to me is not normal , i,m not trying to antagonize or create arguement,s , it,s purely my own thought which i am as entitled to just as much as those who think it,s OK :?
I have zero interest in changing anyone,s opinion but to the same end i would appreciate the same in reverse
I don,t like french cars , i think they are utter sh1te in every way but the next guy may think they are great , that,s fine as long as he,s happy but i wouldn,t want himtelling me they are any good 8) same principal

Pretty sure my position is clear so I,m dropping out of this topic now as i get no satisfaction from confrontation & hope i didn,t offend anyone ,

I'm probably one of the most "straight" blokes you can meet but it pains me to know that I have a friend that can't "come out" (his parents religion also has something to do with this).

Live and let live and what somebody else fancies I'm the bedroom is none of my business.

I understand the whole don't flaunt in in my face thing because I'm the same.

I don't like French cars either

Why is being gay not right?

Why do people have a problem with it?

Surely if two people love each other, and they happen to be of the same sex, then what does it matter to anyone else?

What effect does it have on your life?

Gay marriage....why not? ok, I get the "christian" arguments but in todays world, why shouldn't two people who commit to each other have the same rights as others, just because of their gender?

Gay Pride......I always just thought it was about celebrating your lifestyle due to the length of time (all of history I guess) that you haven't been able to be open about who you are.

I wish I was as comfortable with "me" as these people are.

Shoved down your throat? Nah, its a well known event, meant in good spirits.

What about jehovah's knocking you your door step...thats shoving stuff down your throat.

Come on people, its a non issue really.

Personally Its not a case of it being a non issue, its a modern society etc, for me when I see same sex kissing, marriage or what ever, instinctively inside of me I'm told its not right and not meant to be, sorry I know that sounds rather daft or shallow but thats how it is. I'm not religious at all but its never sat comfortably with me.

Tim.

Modern society....exactly!

Non-issue...maybe the wrong words at the moment, but soon it will be.

Completely missed my point ! Basically if something offends you or you do not agree with it then don't get involved - the point I made about tennis was a valid point ! I don't like tennis so I don't watch it - I don't like the gay pride celebrations so I don't watch them I don't like cricket or after eight mints either ? In your opinion "most gay people want there sexuality to be irrelevant"" so why post this in the first place !

Do what you do and let others do what they do - your opinions on other peoples sexuality may be offensive

I find it a little odd this is being discussed here.

It is always going to be a contentious topic so why attempt to debate this on a car forum of all places?

Started off as someone's rant about gay pride and has now unsurprisingly flowed into individuals conveying their personal opinions on same sex marriage.
