Gauging Interest: LED Strip Boot Light Kit

Having made my own boot light strip using a W5W base adapter that shorted and melted I've come up with a solution using OE connectors.

I'm considering making a truly plug and play removable kit but wonder if there would be enough interest to make it worthwhile.

Kit to consist of:

1x self adhesive flexible LED strip
1x LED connector with OE connector
1x connecting red/black length of wire with 2x OE connectors on each end

This would plug straight into the boot light loom connector, replacing the blub housing which can be left in situ.
Stick LED strip on, connect wires and good to go.

Completely reversible and removable.

How much would you be prepared to pay for that?
(Poll Marlon... :P )

I'm also wondering if a female socket on the LED and 2x males on the connecting wire would be best or the usual male-female join.

I don't go in the boot in the dark often enough to care about lighting but still wonder why would you want it to be an easily reversible mod?

Being able to return to stock? It's just possible, I'd use the connectors regardless over splicing the loom or soldering to the existing lamp.

I'll have at least 4 of these once I've made mine up, if there's the interest I could keep making them or let them fade into irrelevance.

I just used a led bulb and soldered my wire to that. Completely stock connection then and cost pennies.

I'd be interested if it was cheap enough. No idea how much would be considered cheap though considering time taken and component costs.

I ordered a pair of footwell lights that were recommended elsewhere on the forum for something like £8.. Bright as hell, and I noticed the boot light was the same, so ordered another pair..

That's fine till you put something in the boot that blocks the light.

Here's my write up

Kit made and installed today.

5 min installation:
1. Remove boot light and disconnect
2. Pull carpet away
3. Feed connecting lead behind carpet to boot light connector
4. Stick LED strip on and connect to connecting lead
5. Replace carpet and (now inoperable) boot light

I'll be able to make 4 kits with what I have remaining and will list them soon.

Result with warm white LED strip:

Right, I'm buying your kit & driving backwards everywhere as these are way brighter than my halogen headlights
