Gas struts for boot

Hi

Apart from BMW direct does anyone know where I can order a pair of gas struts for the boot of my Z4? I've been on a few websites that stock these type of thing but all of them only had Z3 versions.

I could do with one myself did you get a price from BMW ,I will ask a friend who works in the trade if we can order a few :wink:
 
I could do with two too.

the ends are corroding - not sure why.

Is is this common then?

Let us know if there is a deal to be had.

IIRC stealers were quoting about £30 a pop??
 
this has reminded me of a question i was going to ask sometime ago ? is the boot supposed to just click upwards, or is it supposed to pop all the way ? if yes then my struts are knackered....im guessing it just pops up, just thought i would check though.

£32 each is the best price so far! Seemed a bit pricey so I had another Google around and am waiting for a price back from a company that has Z3 ones for £12.50 each but doesn't list Z4 ones. Are these the same maybe???

I'll post the details when I get them sent to me.

The problem is just like other people have said here i.e. about an inch of bad corrosion at the bottom end of the struts. I feel that the boot is now quite stiff to open compared to before.

I was looking at these a few months ago. I wanted the boot to open fully and not just "pop".
RS Components have a great selection but I just didn't have time to do the calculations (guess work).
 
No joy with the boot struts I'm afraid. All of the companies I found do Z3 but not Z4. One company does have a custom build section if you put in the exact dimensions and measurements of what you need but I imagine that will be pricey so I didn't go down that road. Looks like BMW have got me over a barrel...again! Ah well it won't break the bank but it would've been nice to get a bargain. :roll:
