After my recent car break in, I've decided to beef up the security on my garage. I have a double up and over door, which is electrically operated. However, in order to fit the opener, I had to remove the bottom locking bolts, meaning I'm getting a bit paranoid now.. I always leave either the XC90 or van right up against it overnight, or when I am out in the other, BUT although it's also alarmed, I want to physically lock the bottom of the door shut.
So, I'm looking for a couple of surface mounted electric deadbolts or latches, which I'm going to wire via a relay to the light on the door opener, so that when the light comes on the bolts retract, and thee's then half a second or so before the door starts to move which should give plenty of time. Same on lowering, the bolts would retract and the when the light turns off 5 mins later, pop out securing the door. Trouble is, I've only seen weedy drawer or cabinet type locks on the 'net. Wondering if anyone was using anything similar? I remember a few years ago, I had an estate car that previously belong to a vending machine company, and they had fitted a couple of fairly hefty electronic latches to the inside of the tailgate, that were operated by a remote and held open on a timer until the tailgate was closed, but my searching is coming up blank..
Ideas?
