Garage recommendations to fit supercharger

Looking for some recommendations for garages to fit G Power supercharger kit on my Z4M - can anyone recommend somewhere?

General location you're looking might help narrow down some choices

I'm looking for someone a bit closer to home for my install, as I want to be able to visit if any problems arise, otherwise I was thinking of asking Ross at RBM.

As long as itโ€™s in England / Wales - excuse for a roadtrip. In Leamington, so midlands based ideally.

RMB is on the shortlist - heโ€™s done a 3.0 supercharger install.

You thought about doing it yourself? It's quite easy and you'll learn a bit about the car which is always helpful.

It should come with very detailed instructions, and if anything like ESS, it's a pretty easy job. The hardest part was running the intercooler lines, which I am not sure your kit has?

I still might attempt it myself, instructions are pretty good. There is an appeal in just getting it done vs. Having car off the road for a while (itโ€™s my daily driver and Iโ€™d have to do the work in dads garage)

I struggle to read these threads, I'm so close to pulling the trigger ordering myself an ESS kit.

Look forward to hearing your results.

Maybe speak to Autobahn Racing? BMW Specialist who have quite a few race cars? They're based in Halesowen (Bham)

Not a BMW specialist, but Rogue Motorsport also do a lot of race cars, engine swaped conversions, had 2GR V6 Charged MR2 in the Britcar which was pretty cool. Also they're really nice bunch. https://www.roguemotorsport.com

What ever option is cheaper, I often fly to the states so can pick it up personally if needed. I explored the ESS kit a few years ago with the Gen1 kit where they locked out the valvetronic, Glad to see with the gen 3 all the niggles have been sorted.

If it's anything like the size of the ASA/G-Power/Infinitas kit, then you are not getting that on a plane without paying for a pallet in the hold :poke:

My box was 42kg and 800x450x400mm :P

after removing mine twice for service / upgrade reasons i absolutely kick myself for paying someone hundreds to install this.... time consuming but not difficult at all. In my case i had a two year warranty if i got it installed at an approved centre which i actually used when the S/C spat its guts out so i guess when i think about it, it paid for itself as the blower in my case is over 2k.

i chucked my ESS 525 kit with IC in a stock sized suitcase, fitted easily. then again, i am pretty good with rubix cube/puzzle stuff..

Apart from rod bearings and a general service , what other work is needed before installing a supercharger. Does the clutch need uprating or is oem up to the job ? Also drive shafts , diff . Or any other bits that need uprating apart from brakes and suspension? Ess 525 needs to happen in the summer , just need to know how much more I need to spend on other bits

I'm planning on upgrading my brakes at some point. I've already fitted coilovers & some wider wheels (10" rears).

I'm always surprised the gearbox gets no mention in these s/c conversions given the ZF S6-37 trans we have is rated to a max of 273lbf-ft, and whilst it is fitted to a 320d or 520d it was not fitted to any 30d variants which comftably exceed this torque limit as would a blown s54 :?

Thanks for the reply ๐Ÿ‘
Was wondering what I could "get away with " . Is the gearbox something that needs doing prior to install or something that can be left until the old one fails ? What are the uptions regarding uprating the gearbox ? Thanks

No idea really I'm afraid. I think most just use the stock unit and hope for the best?
