Always garage! Mine is now SORN from today, Polished, hoovered, covered, tyres pumped up high and battery conditioner on ... See ya in 6 months :(

Bit OTT in Sussex! It's not exactly Siberia! :) It was 20c up here in t'North today.
My zed is a summer toy only... That why I have super low miles :)

Mine's a toy with very low mileage too but it gets used throughout the year. :)

'twas a nearly as warm in the proper "north" here today

Mine is garaged (well, underground car park these days, but used to be proper garage) over winter. I get the hardtop on for winter too. Keep the soft top fresh, and away from dirt and grime salty yucky stuff over winter :D

I've moved two houses into one, so the garage has all my furniture in it! It will be going bit by bit and then the Z will get a bit of pampering after a couple of years in the rain and snow!

My zed is a summer toy only... the tax ran out today so it's time for me ... Back to the MTB and Civic ;)

I wouldn't own a rag top without a garage.

Mine will be off the road from end of October. Send the tax back and get about £130 refund to put back on in March. Always do 12 months though.

I was thinking about SORNing mine again this winter, as I did last year. However, on balance, I'd rather have the winter hooning available for nice days, and with my tax being only £280 a year, even if I get a few winter drives it'll be worth it

I've found cars go to crap when you don't use them much. My Z4 has sprouted all it's faults (not really elements related at all) since it's been doing many less miles.

Up till then it had no problems at all really.

Mainly lots of things that rely on active lubrication or motion. Ie, gaskets, seals, rubber belts, ball joints.

Cleaning them seems essential to good over-winter storage, getting a nice under-car jetwash/clean and all that stuff... but it does little for the other stuff mentioned above I don't think.

Imo a Z4 isn't exactly THAT specialist to need garaging in winter. It's a perfectly sensible and usable all-year car, designed to be used in winter or summer alike.

The only real thing I worry about is salty roads really. What I'd love is some kind of under-car spray system (like lorry cleaning bays use)... hmmmmm.

Mine shares a communal 6 car storage barn with a roof and walls but open ended so sort of well protected but not entirely enclosed. Stable mates are a Triumph ST (mine), and not mine, a BRG Morgan plus 8, a split screen VW Camper in Orange, an Audi RS4 and a brand new Fireblade.

Have just got a HD full all weather cover for the Z. Noticed some pigeons roosting buggers.

The cynic in me says will you be asking for post codes next :?

Much as I love my Z4, I don't think it's that rare a car... you could just drive around for a few mins and you'll find a few parked on the road.

The ///M is a rare car, don't see them very often at all.

Would garage mine if I had one. Although it will be stored for 3 months from Dec - Feb.

I was advised by my BMW Technician mate never to leave it standing to long and never leave it garaged for more than 6 weeks due to condensation becoming trapped, run it for at least twice per month for 1 hour....
I had a timber log effect cabin built for my cars, apparently it stays at the same temperature as outside so no condensation issues unlike brick/insulation..

Out in the elements, gathering shite already as the leaves drop  Special or not, if I had a garage it would be in it. My roof looks shagged after winter living within woods, and in summer it gets covered in sap.

Garage is dedicated to the Z and nothing but the Z. Trespassers will not be tolerated!

Definitely garaged now, had one built this year - previously has been under an outdoor cover in bad weather.

No garage here, but I do put a cover over it if I'm not going to drive it for a week or the weather gets really bad.

Outside under a breathable cover, there are some vicious trees producing sap and housing some b*****d birds where my parking space is, not to mention the colony of lady birds . Got a garage but the other car lives in it.
