So I needed a service on the old girl.
Phoned around a few of the local garages including an amusing 5 minutes listening to the main 'stealers' telling me why it was such a good idea for me to hand them £550-00 so they had the privilege of changing my oil.
Finally settling on some guys who used to be reasonable, so booked the car for last Saturday with very specific instructions on what I did ( and did not) want doing.
Four hours after dropping the car off I get the call so go to pick her up.
"any problems?" I ask, "only the service light" comes back the reply.
"Uhuh, so what's the problem?" I said, " we can't reset it as it needs a special main dealer diagnostics tool"
"Ok, so how much is that?"
" hmm, about £65+VAT" they reply looking a bit shifty.
"Ok, walk this way"
Where upon I very quickly reset the service myself while they watched.
"monkeys" I said as I jumped in the car.
As a footnote it does look like they've done a reasonable job on everything else, but apparently the service light had tied up for hours.
