Garage Floor

Its amazing how much space cars take up. I have just moved into a place with a double garage and standing in it you'd think the cars can easily fit in with lots of extra space, but when you measure up there is actually not a lot of extra space.

Floor looks great

That is because the UK uses smaller sizes as standard. 5 metres is a double garage size in the UK, 6 metres is a double garage on the continent (standard new build size only).

LOL, never knew that :)

If its any use Crown do a chemical concrete floor paint, most colours so long as you want battle ship grey!

Its lasted 7 years so far but like you said over time it does lift.

I like the vinly option, hmmmm I will try that at the next garage.

Nice one.

To bore you even more, everything "double" is smaller ... a double bed in the UK is 1.4 metres, compared to 1.6 metres on the continent :)

Am I missing something...?

Why put any 'treatment' on a garage floor? Or is it like framing a picture...? :-)

I would have left it RidgyDidge but alas the floor in question was very dusty concrete - the sort you can keep sweeping but only ever seems to make worse/scratch off more old concrete. Hence the flooring squares. Has transformed the amount of crap floating around in there already and I even have a few panels left to floor the mezzanine I'm currently constructing for the far end of the garage (which slopes up to about 18 feet).

Covering the floor makes it more like a room.

Mine is now cleaner, less dusty, better insulated, looks neater & much more comfortable to work on - no brainer for £50.

getting seriously tempted to tile mine now...

even though I don't put the car in it, the push bikes could be pampered

Can recommend Gannet. Cheap and fast delivery too. Link below if you end up pushing the PayPal button and treating the bikes.

EDIT: If anybody plans to park motorbikes on this make sure you add a layer of carpet or equiv on top as the focused weight of a centre stand does nothing for the looks of the tiles (which I found out parking my Vespa :headbang: )
