Garage Floor

A much discussed topic;

I ordered some pva foam interlocking mats which due to a crap ebay seller have now cancelled.

I'm now looking at straightforward vinyl to cover the bare concrete? Car would sit on the vinyl.

I've found some on ebay 4.5x3m around £70 delivered.

Any Thoughts..?

Paint it.

I've explored that route & due to a few oil spillages would need acid treatment, sealing, then painting. Even then it could lift under the tyres

Hoping that vinyl is a quick simple job...

I went for interlocking on eBay and had great service and very cheap. Check my history of threads for more detail but couldn't be happier. Delivered next day too and a shade under £100.

Cheers will do;

Do you have any pics, any issues driving the car onto them?

Some on here will keep hearing me say look in Costco.

They did both a floor roll and interlocking tiles, so if u knew someone with a card could take a good look rather than buyIng blind on eBay

No pics yet as havent laid them. Need to finish painting interior walls and adding the mezzanine. But here's the link to my thread and the ebay guy.

Cheers, you've swayed me - just ordered some.

Hope you have as much fun as I did painting the walls, breeze blocks....

Shall post pics when done :-)

Excellent, let me know what you think as youll probably get them laid before me! Good luck :thumbsup:

I'd never paint a garage floor again: no matter the preparation I've always had paint lifting under the wheels, etc. Plus it's not cheap. I'd rather go with cheap vinyl if I was doing it again.

New flooring fitted,

It took approx 45 mins to fit & trim. Cost was £70, sturdy 12mm thick pca foam. Slight indents where the tyres sit but hardly noticeable.

Easy to get in and out? I used to drive the Elise into the garage (never tried reversing into it). I wish I have a double garage.

It's just about ok to get in & out, & personaly find it easier to reverse in as I can use the mirrors.

Up until 2 weeks ago the garage was full of cr*p, dusty, dirty with unpainted walls etc. Garden shed, hard labour & 2 weeks later and almost done.

Just ordered a gripper light etc & should be all set for autumn / winter.

Wills, how you finding the flooring. Havent got around to fitting mine yet so interested to know. When laying did you start from the centre or one side? Easy to trim at the edges? Might do mine this weekend.

Hi, it's great!

I went from right to left, and then trimmed flush against the wall (very easy with Stanley knife).

The matting flattens where the tyres sit, which was expected & no issue. Other than that the only other thing was sticking some of the mats down with a bonding glue where needed.

Shall post a pic tomorrow.

Good luck..!

Thanks Wills. Laid mine today and pretty happy with them. Very easy to install as you say and took me about an hour.

Decided it would be rude not to show the M parked on new garage floor too...plus any opportunity to show off my girl cant be a bad thing right? :D

I'm buying a new house with 2 garages... Been thinking about what to put on the floor in them - looks great... I like the use of the tiles on the wall to stop the dings as well :)
