GapTech..

Check, double check and then triple check that you have the correct coloured wires from the GapTech connected to the correct coloured wires in the car.

What happens when you try to use it, especially with one touch on the button in the car? (The timing of the presses on the remote can take a little time to work out).

You did the right thing to solder the wires, by the way. The terminal blocks are not suitable for use in a car (especially one as stiffly sprung as the Z4), as the vibrations will cause the screws to loosen over time. ScotchLocks are the work of the devil - they just cut into (or even all the way through) the wire that you are tapping in to, potentially reducing its current carrying capability. There's a very good reason why no motor manufacturer (including BMW) ever uses either terminal blocks or ScotchLocks in their wiring looms.

Potential dry joint? I would turn the car off & put a multimeter on continuity to check from leg to leg-that will prove if your connections are good.
