Gaptech RCH+ / Group buy

I'm not a big fan of bullet connectors tbh... The scotch locks have worked fine for everyone else...

Incase you missed it on the last page:

"Right, yellow to brown/violet, that looks like brown/black to me????"

It isn't, there is no brown/black wire.

I might strip and solder them, it's just a pain if it still doesn't work!

Does anyone else get it sometimes after the roof has closed and the windows go back up, a window will go all the way up then back down again a few inches? I take it that its just the trap sensor being sensitive?

I had that regulary when I had parked with a window down for a while, then went on to shut the roof.
If it was parked with both windows up then it wouldnt happen

Try a window reset... may improve/ stop it.

I tried that wire first (you can see there's tape on it by the blue scotch lock in the background) and that didn't work so assumed I had misread the colours as it was very dark and hard to see.

Also just been out for the first drive since fitting it and my steering wheel controls no longer work (Volume, track skip, etc.) I can only assume it's related.

You can't just tape it up if you use the wrong one, I'd suggest you've broken that wire.

Personally, strip both black/brown and black violet back. Solder black/brown back together and fix. Then tape back up.

Then, on the brown/violet, strip it back a bit, wrap the ends around eachother with the gaptech included.

Yes you can and no I haven't! lol
The wire is 100% intact mate, obviously I checked that before taping it up to insulate it from touching any exposed metal, the scotch lock had striped the insulation back but not broken any strands

When/If I get it working then I'll solder all connections to be 100%.

Oh I noticed that my airbag light is now on /off (random durations) the whole time I'm driving as well as having no steering wheel controls! :headbang:

You'll probably have to repair the black brown wire too (I think). I'd do it regardless just to ensure a good connection.

Sorted! :D
After opening every scotch lock one at a time to double check they were making a connection I found both the red wire and the black wire had not fully penetrated the insulation (in spite of being squeezed fully) and after physically pulling the insulation back a little and reclosing them all works 100%
This is exactly why scotch locks are a bad idea, I will be soldering all five wires over the weekend when I have my soldering iron back.

Tried it many times, never improved it. Only happened if a widow was left down for an extened time before putting the roof up

So this has been a success full post :)
Everyone happy yep?
All we need is a long hot sunny Spring & Summer (PLEEEEASE?!?!?)
