Gaptech RCH+ / Group buy

Received mine today, it was waiting for me when I got in from work. Going to try and install it tomorrow if it stays dry.

Oh both of you, scissors and snip along the tape (keeping the bottom edge of the scissors against the tape so you touch no wires, very easy indeed.

Got mine installed this afternoon, took about 25 mins. :D The worst bit was was removing the black loom tape!

Roll on summer

Gary i've been reading old threads about gaptech and have some questions for you while we wait for my gift to get to me :D I saw in many threads that the scotch lock method isn't the prefered one in terms of connection quallity. Even though you include scotch locks in the package as the easiest way to connect it, what do you think is the best way to connect it? If you could also say pros and cons for this method i would appreciate it.

Vendar - if you look at the old group it thread towards the end you will see a short how-to about using push fit male/female bullet connectors. The scotch locks worked fine for me but I had to take the unit out temporarily and decided to use the bullets. Bit scary cutting wires, but there's no danger of the connection coming lose and deinstall will easy if I ever sell up and want to take it with me.

Mine turned up at work today.
Iv a good mind to go home at lunch time and fit it :D

There should be a blue, if there's not and you're impatient, halfords/any motorfactors will sell them.

I don't know about everyone else... but I am struggling to make mine work every time :x

It seems to work about 1 in 5 which is quite frustrating, am I doing something wrong?

I am guessing the colour doesnt matter.. As I have 4 red can i just get another red?

No you need a blue.

The blue is larger, and is for the largest wire you're going to crimp. Blue is the most common size anyway, even maplin will sell these.

I'm glad it's not just me, hopefully Gaptech may have a little feedback?

You should have 4 red and 1 blue scotch lock IIRC...

I only have 4 red no blue! :(

Andy, really sorry about missing the blue connector from your package, you must use a Blue one on the I power circuit because a red one it too small and will cut your loom wire in half.I can definitely send you one if you wish.

You both need to work on the timing on pressing the three buttons. Don't press too quick.

Lillywhite has it right... You can't just go clickclickclick, there needs to be a defnite pause between each push of the button, almost a second between each.

Also lift your key to chest level and point at the car. I got mine to work whilst sitting outside a pub when my car was a good thirty yards away much to the amusement of the other drinkers. :D
