Gaptech questions - for fun

Ok, so i'm still loving the gap tech module even after having it 2 months now.

A few things have occurred to me though and i thought i'd post them up to see if it's just me or not...

Gaptech owners only need reply!

1) Who else uses their head to amplify the remote key signal to get the roof down from as far away as possible?

2) Who has the balls to never look back at your car when you hit the key combo to close the roof when you've got out, just trusting it will all be fine and the windows have gone back up etc? (I still can't do this)

3) Who has had a 'gap tech fail' where you've operated it by accident when raining or at some other inappropriate time? :rofl:

Any other traits i have forgotten?!

I never do 1, or 2 as sometimes the windows anti trap make them bounce back down.

I have had 3, but in a different way... My gaptech failed after 2 years, and took out my kbus, So i have had to buy another to replace it.

2. On my last car yes, on this car I will walk away but still have to look back as for some reason on the new one the driver side window goes back down again sometimes.

3. Yes - key in my pocket when washing the car, crouched down hose in hand and it opened from pressure... Though that wasn't the Gaptech, it was the hold-down function programmed on the key.

3. Sitting in the cafe recently I got asked if that is my black convertible outside with the windows open.... In the pissing down rain! (Keys squashed in pocket) Nob Jockey!


Had more embarrassing moments before I fitted the Gaptech though, trying to open the roof walking towards the Zed and it stoping half way down. :headbang: That's why I bought the Gaptech!

3) First fail at the National Meet on Saturday. Had a call from the hotel receptionist telling me the Zed's windows were down and rain was pouring in

Right, couldn't resist so tried this today

1.Put it in my ear... Nothing
2.Put it up my nose.. Nothing
3.Put it in my mouth...:sick2: Wrong order! :lol: but still nothing

In all seriousness, put the key fob bit (i.e. the plastic bit) next to your temple and then try. You must hold it against your skin. It does extend the range. Not by a huge distance but it does a bit.

Ok.. So, yesterday I was apparently seen walking backwards and forwards across the car park at work with a key up my nose and again today with the key on my head :?

1) Nice myth. Mine opens and closes from 50+m away (as seen at the National in previous years) Any range extension would leave some toad nicking my car before I got there...

2) no - I always look back anyway to admire the car and even better to see the hood closing, especially if folks are around

3) I have a Reinhold module which requires 3 distinct blips so not easy to have a 'fail'.

4) I do tend to leave the roof open on the drive knowing from my office that I can close it. Have forgotten a few times when it's suddenly rained....

Surely mr gaptech could sort this by using the rain sensor to detect when to close it automatically?

The golf mk5 could do this with the sunroof/windows and was v useful

Do a search on here, it's been looked into before. I'm not sure of the outcome though.

Auto wipers and auto lights sure, but auto roof when it rains? Seems like overkill to me
