Hey guys

I'm considering installing a Gap Tech RCH+ which will allow me to remotely lower and higher the roof of Layla ( yes my z4 has a name (shes too pretty not to have one :) ))

http://gap-tech.co.uk/rchp.html

I'm just wondering if anyone has installed one of these before and know of videos on how to do it.

But also, I am a bit worried about install it as I dont know the internal working of the chip so I am concerned that somebody might be able to get control of the car roof from a random key etc etc.

So if anyone has installed this or something similar, please give me some information as well as security concerns and installation videos if possible.

Thanks guys
J

Many on here have fitted if you do a search. Only your key will make the roof open, it cannot be done with a random key.

I fitted one to my wife's Zed last weekend.
Easy to fit, realistically in under an hour.
Take care to make sure that the wires are located correctly in the
scotch connector or they will sever the Zed's loom wires.
Good bit of kit.

Thanks guys....So does it come with everything you need to install it or what tools and accessories will I need as well?

You will need a torx bit set (I think it is a torx 10 bit of the top of my head) for the screw that holds down the ashtray/centre consul switch panel and a pair of pliers to close the scotch connectors. Be careful removing and replacing the screw that holds down the panel as it can easily get lost if it rolls off towards the handbrake lever.

Haha I know, ever since I got Layla (yup, she has her name ha) I've been getting these mods, but I think that's what adds to the beauty of an e85 roadster, you get to develop something that emulates your individual personality (I didn't realise I was so philosophical ha!)
