Gap or Tyre cover from Stealer?

How do all,

Been a member for a few years now but finally got the brass together to get my first Zed. I pick her up on Wednesday: she is a 2010 35i M Sport.

I have a couple of questions that I couldn't find on here. The stealer recommended Gap cover and tyre cover. Now, Gap cover I wasn't too bothered about, but the tyre cover,I know run flats are mighty expensive so does anyone have experience with this?

Wouldn't bother with either. The stealer recommended those solely to make money. If your RFT's fail. Just make the switch to non-rft's like the vast majority on this forum. Your probably better off springing for a RAC membership. Get a flat. Just make a phone call. My ADAC policy in Germany costs just $90 USD a year. They will show up with a flat bed should I find my self at the side of the road for most any reason. No deductible, No questions asked other than "where do you want to go" I don't even bother with a tyre kit.

How many punctures/blow outs have you had over the years? Not many I suspect. I changed a Range Rover wheel for the spare about 7 years ago but nothing since. Did have a runflat go flat on the Zed recently but there was no puncture so don't know why.

Ditch the runflats as soon as and your life will be a whole lot better.
 
Regarding the gap insurance we took some out on the GF's new Fiat 500 and used Ala.co.uk and it was half the price what the dealer wanted £300,hopefully may never need it but just gave us that piece of mind :thumbsup:
 
I took out both on the new X1 but certainly not at the original price quoted :)

Like all insurance waste of money ,unless it happens to you :cry:

all helpfull. I think i will forgo the dealer stuff and possibly look private at prices. I think for the limited miles we will do in the car, its probably not worth it (unless we get a multi tyre blowout!!!)

Picking the car up today, i'll post some picks on the front page when I have time!
