You want to see what they cost here in Ireland !

Genuine question. Here’s a comparable brand new, unregistered one at £41k/€47.6k across the border from you. What penalties would you have to pay to take it south?

You’d have to pay the ( illegal) VRT (vehicle registration tax) which is a % of what the revenue say it’s worth in the south

Perhaps 20% .. depends on emissions how much, maybe €13k plus VAT of 22% which I’m not sure is on the purchase price or the value that the revenue put on it .. so probably more than - €20k

Thanks for explaining, so not worth it which seems mad that a €20k cheaper car could cost you more by driving it across the border :headbang:

Or if you’re in S.Ireland £60k :o

A fully loaded 4 pot 2 litre with all the relevant options ticked too almost bring it up to M40i spec is either as dear or dearer than an M40i when you use the new car configuration system

  I’m laughing at you all considering bailing and I’m still waiting for mine.

There will be that many forum cars hitting the market it’ll deal with the lack of supply issues

Saying that, I agree, get out while the moneys good

I understand. I've never bought or sold cars to make money. I buy because i want a new experience and sell when I no longer feel any joy from it. I'm still very much enjoying the Zed but such is the increase in second hand value I can go and get another experience for now and revisit the Zed down the line.

Absolutely agree with you, at these price increases if you’ve any intention of selling over the next 12 months I’d be bailing now and sitting back and watching the market. If you can make a profit bang on

I was talking to someone at length about this the other night and the discussion basically went, it’d mad not to sell their car just now with the 2nd hand value as it’ll probably never be as high again as it is now.

If you’ve got something you can get into for reasonable money, or can sit back and watch the market absolutely the way to go.

We definitely don’t buy these types of cars to make money but if they happen to do that all the better.

The exact same position [ref]Wyldie85[/ref], is finding himself in just now too

I'll add in that I'm in the process of buying a new house with a large garage. It would be nice to free up the capital to have should any unexpected costs pop up but at this stage I should have everything covered. The hypothetical "profit" from the M40i would do a hell of a job in transforming the garage from bog standard functional to a car lover's garage.

Sold my zed. New one coming September. ;)
New spec is the faster blue colour again, with shadowline, comfort, tech and driver aid pack.

I think AA has been whispering in your ear convincing you this is a good idea - he is great for the economy

It does make sense if you got a good deal on the one you sold and the new one - get to have a full warranty again :D

That git convinced me!
I mean man logic it obviously makes sense, but even regular logic it works out ok. I got a great deal on a new car, but delivery screwed me as it’s late august so I might as well wait for September.
I will miss summer months, but hopefully will be away most of august anyway. Many summers ahead to enjoy!

New car is misano blue (the fastest colour as we all know) with comfort, tech, shadow, and drivers assistance pack.

No idea if the last pack is any good, but if I’m getting a new car I might as well get a slightly better spec. ;)

He is great at spending other peoples money  although he told me to wait till I could get exactly what I want which is sound advice

He told me about and it makes great sense all round and for summer you could always get a cavalier in a party frock to run around in
.

[ref]ori[/ref],

That git convinced me!

After you asking me what I thought, I was innocent until that point…………… .

Emmmmm, I think I’ve proved I’m reasonably good at spending my own money, but granted, also helping others relinquish theirs

Yes, I did definitely say to hold out for what you want and I’m glad you agree when I told you about mine that it makes sense and even more so that you’re advising Ori to follow my lead and buy a truly unique classic Calibra

Well, we all have to look out for each other.

Saw a guy on Facebook who took a black m40i because it could be delivered next month, but wanted a frozen grey that couldn’t be delivered until September. So he is wrapping it to get the same colour. Not sure if that makes sense to me. Rather wait for the car you want no?

Yes we do

See, that’s why I’m not on Facebook, a completely different clientele :poke:

Each to there own but Raven said that when his first wrap was removed the original paint had lots of nicks and scratches from applying the wrap. At that much money I’d be holding on for what I wanted

Sounds like a plan but [ref]Ole gits rule[/ref], is on the bell as he’s the only one saving money not spending it

saving that will be the day - spending it quicker than its coming in, £400 on garden stuff ( :!: )this weekend plus got to get the patio laid so another £500 then it will be the pizza oven and new BBQ and furniture.

Then then I will £8k for a bathroom

Saving may start next year if I am lucky

Yep better to spend other peoples money - I would love to just don't know anyone who will give me their credit card :D

Yes I am going to wait for a VO 35iS - no point in getting anything different it is what I really want so be patient

Don't want you feeling alone on here with that fancy cavalier - least we can take the Mickey out of tow people then

I daily my car 40 miles on a dual carriageway that's is crawling with speed cameras so the driver assistance pack was a must. Just set the ACC and sit back and relax. It will bring the car to a complete stop if need be.

It doesn’t do steering though does it?

No it's not at the auto pilot level yet but if you use a motorway or dual carriageway that has medium to heavy traffic it helps take a lot of the person or of commuting. Along with the lane keeping assist it's nice to have. If you don't daily the car then you could do without it.
