£17k off list..not as fast as your 35is was..still fairly quick.. :driving:

Its a marmite car, some will love it, the faithful generally decry it, its your boat, you should float it..go and look at a G29 in detail and importantly take the same model for a test drive, not a 20i nor a 40i..

Given your history / experiences that, IMHO is the best way forward.. :fuelfire:

A bit worrying that they can't fill the technical details in correctly , but heh its a BMW dealer :poke:

Technically it should benefit from all the knowledge on the N20 engine so should be bullet proof, the ZF box is..

30 months warranty should alleviate SWMBO fears!!

It's a good price but I reckon a £34K M40i will hold it's extra £3k for a good few years, meaning it won't actually cost you anything more.

So unless you're planning to keep the car forever a cheap M40i is probably a better buy.

I thought it's the B48 engine in that, same as the F56 MINI Cooper S but with a bit more power?

Caught myself thinking, its not a bad looking car, quite like the new dash, hmmh must stop it!

I'm due at the dealer tomorow to drop off the spare key for my soon to be ex-Z. They have one there so I'll take a look. I will hold off for a few weeks before I do anything just to make sure I know how I feel about buying another car that I don't really need. :D

Yes it is the B48,,my reference to the N20 was its predecessor..the point was the N20 was first of a radically new design (for BMW), the B48 is the follow up with the collective benefit of hindsight so should have less bugs!..here's hoping!

Unless you must have a 3litre and want some exhaust noise, enhanced by an aftermarket ‘Zorst’ as the youth say.....a 30i is a good buy though, less tax, fuel etc, for everyday and weekend use plenty enough grunt, makes sense imo. I wouldn’t personally as I’d want said exhaust and some anti social noise...... but that’s the only reason really. :P

What I cannot, for the life of me understand is, why have none, and I mean none, of these cars got the driver assistant pack with adaptive cruise? I’ve not yet seen one with it on any model, and I know as if an M40i with adaptive cruise popped up I’d have it, but there aren’t any, nor have there been any since launch unless one has slipped my net... Why wouldn’t you spec adaptive cruise if you’ve gone to the expense of ordering a new car..?

Must be just me being bone idle...

The 2l is good, you can feel the weight loss and the handling is sharp.. had a 20i as a loaner.
My M40i has the drivers assistance pack (and comfort/tech) - it was a stock purchase.

The driving assistant pack here is a £900 option that has adaptive cruise, lane departure warning, collision warnings and emergency braking, it’s not standard. Enhanced Bluetooth with wireless charging, Harman Kardon, head up display and parking assist are the technology pack option @ £1800. Sounds like you get more for your buck in NZ but maybe the car costs more in the first place..?

Ha - no 'maybe' about it John. We're looking at around $133,000 NZD (and we only have the M40i available - BMW NZ couldn't see a market for the other models here). Or around £66,500. You could spec the driving assistant pack (and a bunch of other things) and still come out way under  . Literally the price you pay for living in such a small market.

I miss adaptive cruise control. I had it on the S5 and it worked brilliantly.
I’ve still not seen the driver assist pack on these ex demo cars or any on autotrader. Seems odd that many don’t have this.

Exactly, I’m pretty sure I’ve looked at every M40i in grey, black and red since approx last June and not one has adaptive cruise, you’d think at least a few would have been specced with it, unless they’re all demo’s I’m guessing..?

Out of interest why didn’t you spec it Wyldie..or did you buy 2nd hand..?

I managed to get myself a very low mileage First Edition recently. Very happy to be back in a Z (especially another Orange one) as been on the look out for a while for a M40i at the right price. Very different to the 35is (which I still miss) but much more refined and a fabulous GT car. It’s better than my M2 IMO, which is really saying something!

Anyway, the First Edition comes with everything including the Driving Assistance Package. However it does not include Active Cruse unless you spec it with the code 5DF. The DAP without AC is code 5AS. Interesting thing is that whichever build code you spec it’s still £900 with or without Active Cruise. I guess not everyone wants Active Cruise.

Mine was a seven month old ex demo at the dealership so no choices on spec. But it only had ten miles and £16k+ off a new one so it was a no brainer.

The Driving Assistance Package does not seem to be a popular option in the UK as very few cars seem to have it. Don’t know why BMW didn’t include it in the launch models as the manufacturers usually include all available options on at least some of these cars so that potential buyers can see what they offer in real life. :?

This is not an option that I chose to spec on my direct order g29 as I don’t do very much motorway driving, where I think the Adaptive Cruise Control would be very useful. :driving:

Maybe you won’t see it until some customer cars, as opposed to demonstrater cars, start to filter onto the used market. I know Sars doesn’t like it for example but I’m an adaptive fan, wouldn’t really want a G29 without it so patience is the order of the day I guess..........only problem is I don’t have any........ :P

Our Golf has it and I hate it, It’s not intuitive enough, whereas my Mercedes it’s great, I don’t have to do anything on the motorway apart from stay awake :D

That said I wouldn’t miss it if it didn’t have it, whereas cruise is absolutely essential in this day and age

Earlier this week there was a Black 12k miles M40i on the Approved Used site with the elusive Driver Assistant pack for £34,950 - is the new owner on here?

There is a M40i with the Driving assistant pack including the Active cruise control with "stop and go" on the UK approved used site.
