G29 Cruise Control question from a newbie

Hi folks. I hope someone can throw some light on an issue I have with the cruise control on my 2021 G29.

When I switch on the cruise control and press the ‘set’ button, the cruise automatically sets at the speed limit for the road it’s on.

For example, if I’m travelling at 50 mph on a motorway, and press ‘set’, it immediately sets at 70 mph, and begins to accelerate.

So I have to immediately wind it back manually to the lower speed.

In all of my previous cars, when I press ‘set’ the cruise control sets at the current vehicle speed.

I’m probably doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

Cheers

I'm guessing, you have the option switched on to adjust speed to speed limits. Check the settings to switch it off.

If you don't want the SET button to set the cruise control speed to the current road speed limit, you can go to
CAR -> Settings -> Driver Assistance -> Speed Assistant -> Speed Limits option, select any other two but Manual Adjusted. Then, the SET button will set the cruise control to current vehicle speed instead of current road speed limit.

I thought if you just turn on cruise control without pressing set, it sets to the current speed. I use the set to speed limit all the time. It’s very useful.

That's exactly how mine works on my car, and also on my wife's car (2022 330e).
