Future VED Bands ?

Since I'm in the market for a Z4MC, I thought this was worth considering....

So, currently the "M" band (the irony... :tumbleweed: ) is £460.00, for cars with >255g co2 per km

Does anyone have information about future VED rates? I seem to remember some chancellor or other saying they were planning the increase the upper bands aggressively over a number of years, but he may have been from the previous Government.

I hope they're not planning on reaching parity with the "M" band for cars registered after 1/4/2010, which is currently an eye-watering £1,000

It's obviously an important consideration when buying for the long term. I can live with £460, but if it started to go £600, £800 etc in subsequent years, then that becomes a bigger issue. Grateful for any insight or info anyone might have?
