Well what we had been expecting has finally happened! :(

When a few of us met up on 8 July the pay and display machines were there ready and waiting, but thankfully not going into operation until the next day!

It will cost £1.30 an hour with a £5 maximum so I'm just wondering how people feel about continuing to use Newlands Corner as a venue.

I noticed that another forum member posted about car meets at the Black Swan in Ockham (KT11 1NG) so not far away and they also take place on the 2nd Sunday of the month - might that work for us?

White Lion Antiques on the A30 near Hartley Witney also have car meets on the last Sunday of every month so that could be an option.

Alternatively Vince had been wondering about setting something up at Blackbushe airport (on the A30 just outside Camberley) so that could be another alternative.

I'd welcome any feedback from those who have been there but also from anyone who may be interested.

Thanks.

Iain.

I’d be happy to try any of those alternative locations Iain, particularly the A30 options and they would be a bit closer to home!

White Lion Antiques near Hartley Witney or Blackbush sounds good, easy to get to and a nice area.

Just got to get some time to pop along now Ive moved and settled in :headbang:

I posted black swan and recently I've been marshalling it . Good affordable food and beverages great mix of cars and bikes, friendly and goes on every month of the year
Easy access A3 junction 10.

The White Lion Antiques meet is always well attended with plenty of classics and other interesting cars. I go most months in the Marlin and sometimes in the Z if the weather's iffy. They do Bacon and Sausage rolls, cake and coffee for those that skip breakfast :)

That’s a shame about Newlands, does it operate during certain hours?

From what I can find the charges are enforced 7 days a week, so I'm guessing they apply at all times.

An annual pass is available for £60, but there is no charge for Blue Badge holders - maybe I need to bring my Mum!

I like RickRob's idea of trying them all to be honest - how about we start with the Black Swan in Ockham then maybe try White Lion Antiques? In the meantime I'll do some research on Blackbushe and the Fairmile.

May also attend these as closer to us

Great news, the more the merrier - just be warned we often have more than 1 Coupe there!
