Fuse box removal

The power sockets on my new (to me) 23i don't work so I'm assuming it's the fuse.

I have managed to remove the panel in the passenger footwell and the single retaining screw on the front of the fuse box...but for the life of me I can't get the box out, or down enough to access the fuses. It's still attached at the back but I can't see how it comes out.

Can anyone help? I may just take the car back to the dealer but that seems nuts just for a fuse!

Yes another brilliant BMW design!

Its on a step at the rear, just pull it down.
It will seem like you are straining the wires, but no other way to get at.

Yellow 20 amp fuse is on the left side, check with fuse card.
Just make sure it sits back on step before fastening screw, otherwise it rattles.

I'd start off with a low rated fuse first, something like a 3A or 5A first just to make sure that these isn't something shorting the socket out internally, I had a small piece of metal in mine & someone else on the forum had a 5p piece in theirs.

Your going to get a much lower splash with a low value fuse than a 20A one if there is a problem, if the low value fuse holds (prove by testing with a voltmeter or by plugging in a low current device like a phone charger) then you can happily swap the fuse out to the correct value higher rated fuse.

Wish I looked at this forum first spent an hour trying to follow the handbook, couldn't even see it after craning my neck in the footwell, thks all for a blooming fuse what a pain.
