i got my car in May...2009 30i...i love it ! when i bought it they told me the service was due in july...so we negotiated on the price that basically led to me paying an extra £5 a month and they would service it for me in july with 'whatever it needed'...so i get a letter from them to show to the service dept.
so in i go yesterday...show the guy my letter...he puts the key in the wizzy thing and tells me.
this is a vehicle check service thats due...shows me a list of all the things they check (lights work....indicators....etc etc...basically a check they SHOULD have done before i picked it up....but heres the crux...they will do that with my service 'voucher' but in SEPT (yes 5 weeks time) it will need the major service...and thats £550!!!!

much arguing ensued and i walked away becuase nobody in this bag of crap dealership could make a decision

DP (who i know after the sat nav debacle) has had a very stern letter written to him!!

far as i'm concerned i paid extra for a service...so that i would not have to worry about it for another year (in fact 2 years i found out)

Ah, you've been bitten again by the stealers.....slimy fecking lowlife scum!

Lets hope they honour the letter for the sept service.

They should have done the service on purchase seeing that it was only a few months away. Or agree to do it when due.

This may or may not help. I had an issue with a Renault dealer in January. Long story short they were being ass holes and customer service was out the window and I was ready to roll about the floor with the service manager. I called Renault head office and told them the really poor service received and I wouldn't not be buying another new Renault again. Got given a little case number and was told to wait on them calling me back. Call came the next day saying some one will collect my car from another branch and leave a courtesy car.

Bonus I thought

Car was returned next day all sorted and I should have add a 200 quid bill to pay Renault called and said it was free of charge again bonus. Got a letter of Renault saying that retraining will take place at the dealership and another 100 quid voucher.

So go right to the top is what I'm saying.

As an approved BMW used car they do have a minimum criteria for all the 120 points. During the trade in they would have dropped the price on the poor customer because the car was nearing the service so they can do it. So they should have done it.

Servicing is one that is not actually listed as such but 3 months must be a minimum if not 6 months 6K miles. That goes with any item including brake pads.

Now you did actually point out that something was due and they agreed it would be done and you actually agreed to pay more per month to cover the cost.

The problem is that BMW continually change servicing conditions, where unexpected punters do not know even current owners and even dealers. It was simple before 12 months 15K miles.

Time to talk to BMWUK.

Note to all, get the key fob data and see whats needed and when.

You could have opted for the 2 year service inclusive for £410, its 5 years on reg cars after 2013 for 425

My be push that extra £5 was this

Agreed, and from memory 4 months till next service AUC should ensure this is done at point of sale.

well, my letter to the DP produced the desired effect. i hated getting angry and being a bit threatening but they have agreed to cover both the check 'service' and the proper service.

guess thats 1 to me!!!

There only doing what they should have done in the first place. So don't feel bad about what you did.

Glad you got sorted in the end, just a shame you had all the grief and aggro.
I have a 2010 30i E89 that's due first MOT and a service next month and when I bought it in Nov last year I got a voucher covering the MOT cost.
I am going back to the selling dealer with the voucher, but I was also told that the car has service pack on it so the service would be FOC, but now realise I have nothing in writing to support this.
What form does service pack usually take, should I have a certificate or is it just on the BMW database ??
Getting worried about a £550 bill now...and a big argument.

i think you will be ok SBS, it will be in their DB...my mrs had a service pack on her bmw mini a year or two ago and we didnt have any paperwork on but it was covered when it went in!!!
