Fuel trim too lean on bank 1

Hi All

This is my first post and sadly the car is poorly :( , I have got an E85 3.0L manual. After over a month of driving it I got an engine emissions light up on the dash board. I took it round to a friends to read the fault code, it came up with P0710171 DTD Fuel trim to lean Bank 1. He reset the fault for me and I ran fine for a few weeks then it came back on again, the car is completely stock except that I have removed the foam from the sound moderator that goes into the cabin. I didn't no if this was the reason for the fault as the sound moderator is after the MAF so any air going through this pipe will be unmetered ? I have replaced the form but the engine light is still on. I am starting to run out of ideas now, if some body could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Its got to be worth a try as I had the same thing on my 2.5.
Follow the large black pipe from the air filter to the engine.
You will come to a corrugated rubber hose, approx 4 inches in diameter, there will be a small t piece in the rubber where another hose tees off.
Check at the base of the tee for splits/holes.
Will only take 30 seconds to check.
If it is this the replacement hose is about £20 from the stealers and an easy diy job.
Hopefully that's the case!

I had the same issue as Bigbadcol. It's the part that is attached to the throttle on the side of the engine.

Caused bank 1 and 2 too lean codes though. Would have thought it would throw up both if it was an air leak.

Just to resurrect,

I had the fuel trim codes and found the corrugated house is split.

Does anyone know the part number or the name of the hose to help me find a replacement?

Much obliged.

Have a look on Real OEM you should be able to find the part no. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/

Great source that link thanks!

Couldn't see this particular part on there though, did find it in the end - 13547514880

ideal thanks!

I was getting "too lean" on bank 1 and 2. I had a big split in the wider tube coming off part 13547514880. I got it for £23 from BMW lincoln Sopers (forum discount was about £3)

Reset the error code and will see how it goes over the next few days :driving:

I just replaced part 13547514880 - no errors but a high pitch whistle on a slight throttle movement. Was £26 from Sytner in High Wycombe so the Sopers discount looks right
Went in at 10.30 am and they didn't have one in stock but could get one for 2.30 pm - not bad.
