Fuel Tank

Is it just me, or is the fuel tank on the Z4M far too small! I couldn't care less about mpg or any of that rubbish, but seem to end up filling up after just 200 miles or so. I haven't done an entire tank on the m-way yet, what sort of range can these cars manage? I wouldn't normally moan, but it's getting cold out there and seem to always be in a petrol station.

Tank is small but I think it works. Too big a tank would increase weight and also change the weight distribution....

I average 240-260 miles per tank (about 80% highway driving). The most I ever got was about 316 miles on a tank (sustained highway driving at 80MPH). One time only.

Try driving with the sport button engaged - Someone on the forum mentioned he managed more mpg on the Motorway that way.

Haven't had the patience to try it out myself yet!

^+1... anything around 250 MPT is good; I'd need a pee break by then anyway.

It just seems strange, the Z4MC must have a 50 litre tank and my old M3 E46 had maybe a 60 litre tank. It's amazing how much difference 10 litres makes. Some weeks I do hardly any highway and could possibly see as low as 200 miles range on a tank. Which just seems crazy! C'est la vie, still loving the car...

In the last 4 weeks I have spent nearly £1500 on petrol - and thats just on the Z4!

£1500 in 4 weeks!!! I have a company fuel card and my annual bill is only around £2700, how many miles have you done?

are the M's tanks a different size from the regular Z's? I never let my tank get below 1/2 on a long drive and I know I was gassing up every couple hours or so. I didn't mind at all, good opportunity to stretch and wake up. I can tell a difference though when I'm doing a lot of shifting as opposed to cruising at normal 70-80 mph speeds. I use a lot more fuel.

Not sure about a difference in size,,,,I know that on our last drive, we were measuring about the same gas level at each stop :idunno:

Both are 55l.

I managed my first 300 mile range from a single tank this weekend... It's possible :) This isn't something I am particularly proud of, but due to poor weather conditions in the UK, rain, leaves and more rain  I can't remember the last time I have even bothered with full throttle in 1st or 2nd gear, will have things nesting in my engine if I don't get to blow away the cobwebs soon :)
