fuel pump back order

Lets just hope and pray that all you fellow Z ownwers dont need a new fuel pump very quick!
My new zed was diagnosed with a noisy pump 3 weeks ago, a new one was ordered and was due to be fitted on Friday. The service dept at sytners phoned me today to say they are still on back order! he said the delay was something to do with a new computer system that BMW Germany had problems with.
Quite unbelievable :(

That's pretty shoddy if they are blaming a computer system problem because that presumably would affect all orders, not just fuel pumps. Which would mean the entire BMW service business would grind to a halt across the whole of Europe.

More like they forgot to order the part, ordered the wrong part or were sent an older dodgy noisy version and are just blaming the good old computer.

I ordered mine via sytner and it arrived in 4 days from Germany (this was about a month ago).

The good news is my car is perfect and makes no noise at last!

In actual fact it is affecting all orders. I have a new exhaust on the way, on back order, delayed by weeks because of the parts system issues.

I thought the delay was down to BMW moving parts depot, i.e zillions of parts which has delayed orders being processed.

Can you imagine the poor sods who actually have an issue that ales their cars completely off the road? I wonder if BMW are allowing 3rd party parts to be fitted in these cases to help customers?

Just goes to show how reliant companies are on IT when something like this happens.
