Fuel nozzle

When I fill up the pump keeps clicking off as if the tank is full - which it clearly isn't. This has happened ever since I got my car a few months ago.

The only way to get it fill properly is by not letting the nozzle in fully and tilting it upwards. This way it fills fine and clicks off correctly.

What could it be? :? :scratchhead:

Mine is the same but only at some garages i think it just down to the pumps
and how much back pressure there is :driving:

Same here, also love it when you get a nice bit of back splash when it clicks off when full :(

I now go really slowly and make them wait

 Blame one of Mr Gallo's finest for my nonsense posts tonight :)

What I meant to say is that its quite prone to splashing petrol down the side of the car if you let it click off itself.

ps.. i'm quite happy to moderate that subforum if it gets formed

Just be glad the pump shuts off. I once paid for 13 gallons to fill up my motorcycle that only had a 5 gallon tank. A the time fuel was only 89 cents/gallon though so I didn't complain (1997).

I had this problem...I solve it by just filling up with the handle on the first detent (notch thinger) and have had no problems. The problem usually comes when I try to top off the tank....any more than 2 top offs and I get gas on the side of the car.
