fuel flap actuator replacement

bought a replacement actuator of ebay, had a quick look at trying to get to accessing it, found the emergency release cord and the rubber plug (see below) went to follow it but it looks like the mechanism itself is behind some insulation and a bolted on cover.

is this going to be more hassle than it's worth/tear the boot apart effort? :D

If it means sorting your locking cover then I'd say it was probably worth the hassle. Doubtful it would go wrong again.

Wasn't aware there was a fuel cover actuator???!!

haha  haha

How do you think it's locked?

Easy to identify fault, PITA to replace, which is why my new one is still in its BMW box :)

I did this about a year ago it's a pita, as far as I remember you have to remove the wheel arch and you also have to partially remove some covers in the boot, took me about an hour !

yeah that's whats put me off, i pulled the rear light cover off and the trim/carpet where the little boot light is held seen the cord+ rubber grommet and then the ton of insulation foam and what looked like another bolted on cover around the arch and thought "f**k....that"
