Fuel filling problem

Is the latest incarnation of the Z4 a bit of a pain to fill with fuel (fuel pump auto cut off continually clicking in) or do I just have the wrong technique?

I have this problem at my regular garage and its a right pain and no matter how you hold the pump it makes no difference, I think alot of it is to do with the pump intself and whether worn or not as it doesn't always happen at other garages.

I find this to be a generic problem with most cars and garages. I don't think the E89 is any worse than any other car.

I find filling up minis to be the worst ever , frustrates me so much. Who knows if they share the same filler neck.

Glad it isn't only me who has this problem! had no issues in the same garages with my old 1 series or my girlfriends car but the auto cut off is constantly cutting in on the e89

This is not my experience. My other current cars and all my other recent ones have not presented this problem at my two local PFS (BP and Sainsburys).

My Z4 is a test of patience, lucky it only has a small tank.

Try turning the pump handle around 180 degrees. The petrol goes in fine on full trigger.

Upside down! not sure my old arthritic joints are that articulate but I'll give it a go.

So! if I stick a bit of chewing gum up the venturi tube the pain in my ar5e should go away?

Only untill you pi##ed 99Ron all over foot and burt the Garage down.

Personaly I would recommnd you just play around untill you find an angle/depth that works.

(If only that worked with women)

Try holding the nozzle at 45 degrees to the car see if that helps!

Otherwise i have noticed some garages nozzles are more awkward than others

Hold it so that the handle/trigger of the pump is at 2 o'clock.

That angle usually lets me get a full tank without any stops.

It's not just the E89 - issue with both of my E85s. A little frustrating sometimes.

Fiddling and moving about usually brings satisfaction (works at the petrol station too. . . )

:driving:

Do you know before I read this I didn't have many issues filling. I'd usually get the right spot and off I'd go, however last week when filling it kept cutting out. Tried moving the nozzle in all directions and eventually the pump just stopped working after only 20 litres so I ended up going to another shell and completing the fill without any issues.

When I had my mini it used to cut out around 9 litres before it was filled. My Mum actually took my car to bmw to complain about it. Took ages to get the last bit in.
