Fuel Filler Door Not Locking

Noticed that the fuel filler door isn't locking on my Z4.

I can see the little locking pin comes out when I lock it, but it doesn't line up with the hole in the door so it doesn't go through it.

Also the whole assembly of door and insert seems a bit loose and I wonder if thats why.

Any ideas? Or am I going to be drilling the hole a little bit larger instead...
 
There should be a plastic inset in the bodywork that keeps the rod in line - post a photo so we can see if all the bits are there
