Fuel filler cap

odd question but couldnt find answers for.

I have misplaced my fuel filler cap for my e86 coupe and having trouble sourcing a replacement.

autodoc give the part numbers as:
16 11 6 767 740
16 11 6 767 739

any one know if there is a difference between pre/post facelift, conv/coupe.
and if same filler cap was used on e46 or similar bmw/mini?

all i can find is it should be 72mm

Realoem says the first number supercedes the second and that it is the same for all E85 and E86 (and X5 E53 as well)

Never seen a BMW without a broken tether after about 15 minutes.
I reckon they are made of 'self destructing rubber/ plastic'.

I'm on my 7th and 8th BMWs and most of them had a working tether after over 10 years.

But my current ones at 17 and 18 have needed Ebay replacements, which are more plasticky than OE so tend to pop out of the notch in the filler flap.

First world problems!
