Fuel cleaner

I just wondered if anyone has used a good quality fuel cleaner on there ///M's just so it runs through with normal use to give a de-carb to the fuel/injection system to keep in good condition cheers Andy

Isn't that what the likes of the expensive Shell V Power and BP Ultimate are supposed to do? No harm running some Redex, or similar, through a tank of fuel though.

I do run the ///M on shell V power Nitro all the time but wondered if a good quality fuel cleaner would help any more ? ? ?

I can feel a TV show coming on: "How Clean Is Your Engine?" starring two scrubbers, Kim and Aggie.

BG44k is the strongest fuel cleaner available IIRC..

The newer version of this is called Archoil 6400 ... supposedly better from the same people - Power Enhancer.

I have tried the diesel version and the petrol one - can't say I felt any difference but then it cleans the bits you don't see and unless the engine is very poorly I guess you normally wouldn't feel any difference anyway.

BMW sell their own fuel cleaner now, never used it but I imagine it would be worth a go?

Saw this last time I was in BMW to pick up some parts, had a suddenly loss of brain cells and decided to pick up a pot for some reason, around £15 I believe it was. Noticed no difference, not to say it didn't 'work', but I would think BG 44k is your best bet if you want to use a fuel cleaner. Knowing BMW's tendency to over-charge for everything if 44k is more expensive than BMW stuff than it must be better (great logic eh?)! :P

Which is strange when you consider the owner's manuals state that BMW do not recommend any additives for the fuel/oil systems.

Yet another way to take the last penny from their loyal/naive customers - just like when they told me my 2 rear tyres were bald (they weren't) and needed replacing at cost of £375 (that's EACH btw).
