Fuel cap not locking

Hi everyone,

Had my Z4 Coupe 3+ years now without even knowing you guys existed, but looks like a great and knowledgeable forum here - so glad to have found it now.

I'm having a bit of a problem with the car's fuel cap not being locked by the central locking. Has anyone else had this before?

Also, could someone whose lock is working ok post a photo so I can see if there's any bits missing (I can't for the life of me see how it's supposed to operate).

Really appreciate it!

Martin

Welcome to the forum fella. Try and introduce yourself in the newbie section if you can :)

Have a look here for some guidance on the fuel cap problem:

Thanks for the welcome and responses - have posted a hello into newbies forum also.

I've had a dig around to find the sacred green pull, but it didn't seem to do anything when I pulled it. If I put my ear up against the filler gap, there is something making a noise when I actuate the locking, but nothing seems to move anywhere! From reading the other thread, I can't see a 'locking pin' at all?

Any ideas what this 'should' look like?

Cheers,

Martin

Can I give this a quick *bump* or is that rude for being too soon? :)

Be very grateful for any quick snaps of the inside of a fuel cap (does it still lock if the door is open? That shot would be perfect) to help avoid the nasty experience of visiting Vines of Gatwick (useless IMHO).

Cheers

not frozen is it? I nearly copped a hernia in the garage the other day with my 4x4, trying to stand with one foot in the front of the car on the fuel cap lever while trying to get the flap itself open with an ice scraper..... :headbang:

but nope not frozen, checked before the cold snaps started

Look at the 9 o'clock position on the wing where the fuel flap closes. You'll see a 30mm diameter hole. which corresponds to the eye on the flap.

When you lock the car the pin comes out the hole on the left by a good 1cm. You can test it with the flap open by locking and unlocking the car

If it's not working then either the pin is missing or the actuator not working
