Blimey...just let him sell his bloody car lads......who the frick are we to say anything.....we'd be pissed off if anyone did that to our adverts......happens every time.

Goes with the territory  keep your head below the parapet if you don't want shooting at
If anyone lists any item & specifically asks for no comments RE the advert then i would respect that wish , otherwise a forum has to operate as they were designed which is to openly discuss what is before us

No opinion on your personality Danny (I've never met you), purely an observation on the wording of the advert.

The hexagon one does look incredible value, but as already pointed out by Danny, there's no guarantee that the car has a full history etc. That car would get close to selling for £20k privately, Hexagon are a business and price accordingly.

You get what you pay for.

Precisely, but add to that that this car hasn't been pitched in the same way as a normal 'for sale' ad, the OP is positioning the car as a (potential) investment so, IMO, this makes it perfectly legitimate to discuss pricing, desirabilty, appreciation potential, spec etc.

To be fair this does come up every time but if you want to sell something without opinions then a stick to autotrader!

Aside from nav this has got heated seats so not exactly poverty spec.

But as mentioned above for it to every appreciate/ be a collectable i cant actually see the mods as a negative (although personally i would prefer them if i bought it)

I wont comment on price... As it is worth what someone is willing to pay... So good luck with the sale.

Adverts for cars at a price that is judged by a varied and experienced forum as fair and market-led are praised as such all the time on here. Ads that ask a price that is a lot more than the market appears will and should be questioned - it's a forum. I think commenting on price in a positive, respectful way should be encouraged, as most on this thread are doing. I agree it is worth what someone is willing to pay - however mods may make a car more attractive but generally do not add or detract from the price by a lot, and very few people if any ever earn back what they spend on their car.

If Danny gets what he's asking then more power to him, it is a lovely car and will last someone a good long while

No I forbid it haha :poke:

bit harsh on the guy here...I don't think investments need instant returns to be classified such.

it's a lovely car, wouldn't pay that much myself, but recalling a similar cheeky advert a few months ago that was far more chockablock with 'sleazy salesman' chat, seemed to be defended on here slightly more. in fact the poster in question reeled out verbatim the same advert every time a car was sold, just ctrl f and replace make/model/colour....

I am not a moderator, but reading the selling forum rules..... (You know, in the bit that says 'read before posting' in capital letters)
Firstly the rules state that you aren't allowed to ask more than you paid for an item.
Another member on here tried to do this (albeit in a much shorter timeframe) and he removed/was asked to remove his ad. If you are selling it for more than you paid for it, then perhaps you should at least get permission off the mods to sell it here.

Nobody is daft enough to say you're asking too much for your car if it's within reasonable parameters. It's not in their interest to do so as we all own the same bloody car!

It does state in the rules that members can post comparison prices with evidence (against new items, but I think approved used is as close as anyone can get for an E86)

Secondly the rules state 'you may only post normal trading dialogue' - so maybe folk shouldn't post price 'opinions' without backing up claims.
Or maybe if the op breaks the rules then it's a no holds barred free for all!
Or if appreciation is actually happening now, the mods might like to adjust their Ts and Cs.

Just my 2 p, as you were....

Awesome colour - but with M coupe's likes Tom's that recently sold at £8k less, albeit with more miles - you may be waiting for a buyer

This is still £3k more expensive than two franchise dealer cars with similar (albeit higher) mileage.

Nice car though and I hope you sell it for what you are asking, because it will be good for all us M Coupe owners if you do.

I scanned through every Z4MC for sale on PH yesterday and the average private price was £16k for a car with about 47k miles and dealer price was £18k for similar mileage.

Your talking about a car with 48k higher mileage, so trying to compare the two price wise is pointless.

Danny has priced at the higher end of the market but has a spectacular car. Sepang is also an absolutely stunning colour and far rarer than Silver Grey.

For 10000 miles less, nearly 2 years newer and with genuine CSLs, it's worth the extra over that one....just my opinion. If I didn't have such a yearning for autos these days.....l

Sure, but once you drive it away and put 10 - 20k on it, you're effectively writing off £3k+ off the value with a year.

Well unless the owner is going to store it away, as if it were a exotic super car

I don't think the colour influences the price. If anything a Sepang car might be worth less. We all like them but clearly people didn't when they were buying them new - it wasn't an Individual colour either with a big price premium.

Good point OG. It's like white at the time was not popular, it's only now that someone would jump off a cliff top for a white Z4MC

I almost ordered one when new, but as the dealer had one sitting there for 5 months already unsold, and other dealers had the same at the time, I decided against it as I was concerned about resale as well at the time.

There is a difference between liking something because it is different, and actually buying it -certainly for investment value.

The market forces will determine the real price in the end.

IAWTP - with the exception of limited edition runs, rare colours tend to be rare because they are (or were at time of sale) unpopular colours. That's not to say that any colour, no matter how unusual, won't have its devotees or that colours that were unpopular won't come back into vogue - the recent resurgence of white being a good example.

At the end of the day it's not the rarity of the colour that determines its value but the balance between supply and demand
