FS: Tri-colour M wheel

For sale is my (failed project) tri-coloured M-sport wheel. This comes bare without spokes, or multifunction buttons etc. Just the cabling and cowling on the rear.

The leather and stitching is in absolutely mint condition and as new. The cowling on the back is a little scratched up but this isn't on display when the wheel is fitted anyway.

I hacked the foam off as per the retrofit instructions to fit multifunction buttons but the M spoke for the bottom of the wheel didn't fit so I gave up. The wheel can accommodate standard (non M) spokes with or without the multifunction parts. The foamless parts do not have any effect on the fitment of spokes either standard or multifunction and is completely enclosed when the spokes are fitted anyway.

I'm after £150 including special delivery.

What difficulty did you have fitting the spokes? Should the M-spokes in theory be able to fit if a little more foam is cut away?

I think this best illustrates how far I got:

The side spokes were absolutely fine after I cut the necessary amount of foam away. The bottom spoke just flat out doesn't fit. It doesn't extend far enough. The normal spokes would fit but I wasn't willing to compromise.

I see what you mean. I'm sorely tempted but like you I don't think I would be satisfied with not using the m-spoke.

Are you planning on buying a MFSW wheel?

I have one already fitted to my car. Bought this one as the leather was immaculate and thought it would be a straight forward transplant.

That's a pity. I'm sure it will be snapped up shortly! Like I said, pretty tempted but think I'll just have to fork out for the one with the buttons!

You do know how much that costs right?! Last time I checked the tri-coloured wheel is circa £900!

billygilly, this issue is the M spokes aren't long enough. It looks the right size for the standard silver spokes. Would be a good buy for someone wanting an M wheel to use with standard spokes - easy fit.

Hi Ben if you still have your wheel for sale ill take it, change of plan as my tyre deal has falling through so ill put that on hold for another month. ill pm you.

So 1st dibs please

Not sure what's gone wrong there. I just did the exact same conversion and went like a dream. Purchased proper ///m spoke wheels (as opposed to standard wheel but with no ///M logol) for the tricolour wheel and once I'd cut the foam off for the side spokes the MFSW buttons (and paddles) went straight on.

The bottom was a perfect fit, so I can only assume for some reason the bottom spoke is not from the ///M Z4 wheel.

Good price and nice project for someone

I did a write up with photos if anyone cares to check it out.

Your very right from the picture there really is a massive problem, the photo didnt load the first time... looks like the wheels been snapped up now thou :(

Are you sure? Joe @ Sopers quoted me about £320 when I emailed him earlier in the week.
