Following my recent engagement, saving for the wedding has started in earnest, which means unnecessary toys have to go….

Up for sale as a result is this recently purchased ‘Backbox Chop/Rear Muffler Delete’.

I have had it for the grand total of a month, and it has been fitted to the car for getting on two weeks now. It will be removed and will be available for collection from this Friday afternoon (29th May 2015).

I will clean the tips up and give it a polish ready for the next owner.

I’m looking to recoup what I paid for it - £100 collected. I can post for an additional cost, please pm me to discuss postage etc.

To answer some of the more common questions –

1.Fitting was really straightforward, taking approx 1hour, with most of that was faffing about trying to get the rubber exhaust mounts off the old backbox! The backbox chop has an expanded end with slots cut into it so it will easily sleeve over the existing exhaust pipe once you have cut your backbox out.

2. Yes it does drone more than the normal exhaust. It is relatively easy to drive around the drone, and for some will be perfectly fine for fitment to a daily drive. I would personally try to find a local member with this modification done already to gauge for yourself if the drone is too much if you do use your car daily. Weekend car owners & TVR owners should proceed to ignore this point completely :P

3. Loss of Power/Torque– I have not noticed any loss in power or low-end torque at all from doing this modification. I have had the opportunity to commute to and from work with it, as well as drive pretty enthusiastically on a few of my favourite roads, and felt it actually seemed to pull harder at the top-end of the revs. This may have just been a placebo effect due to the increased noise however. Bum-dynos are not known for their accuracy!

4. The noise – it’s amazing. The pops bangs and burbles will never get boring, and the noise going through the gears is far more hard-edged, and it will be too loud for some, but it’s very addictive, and I personally love it!

I’m quite sad to be going back to OEM, but needs must – at least my fiance hasn’t told me to sell the car to fund the wedding…yet!

I don’t have any photos of the exhaust on my car, but will endeavour to take some this evening and will add them when I do. In the meantime I have shamelessly stolen the photos from the chap who sold it to me!

I would be happy to answer any questions, and can drive to meet the buyer within reason.

Located in Milford, Surrey (approx 7miles South of Guildford).
