No idea, I could try as I have both :)

I suspected you did from the other thread . :)
I may get some to try it out as I am at c 250 ppm water here and the assembled filters don't last long.
The only up side is I am Portsmouth Water so no ban

none of these posts want to make me buy one anymore....I was interested, but sounds like there are too many replacements having to be sent out.
so for that reason, I'm Out.

To be fair mine and PVR 's(IIRC) were from the original development batch and a lot seems to have been gleaned from those early
shipments and put into play in the current supply .
My first one ,I bought 2 ,worked fine

Just by chance I seen that this topic has re-risen from the dead - If people have problems then the best way to contact me is by PM as I have been on several overseas on business trip and I have also been moving house so I dont get to read the forum as much as I would like.

I think the 2 people who have had issues out of over 200 filters sold will testify, I am more than happy to sort any problems out but I need to know about it first.

As wegras rightly points out, the original batch had some issues but Ive only had to replace a single filter since then as the lessons learned have been put into action.

Additional to build quality improvements I have also seen the longevity in hard water areas can be dissapointing and so I have created a larger filter which lasts longer and it better value than the smaller filters.

In terms of trying to refill - if anyone can find a way to reliably seal-open-reseal-reuse then please show contact me. The reason some of the ends came off was that they were a mechanical seal rather than bonded. I now bond them with glue to ensure this doesnt happen but this also means than they cant be safely and reliably re-opended. I have been trying to make refillable ones for a month or so now and although I now have a way it is a little messy so Id be interested to hear peoples alternatives.

Hope that covers everthing ive missed :)

I was thinking of cutting mine in half and rejoin there rather than mess with the top ends. Then in the middle, use a lockable T-piece that can be opened / closed so the sand can be removed when "done" and then refilled with sand, then close the T-piece again.

Hi all, been a while. Been on several business trips inc Mexico, USA and Australia and finally moved house so my mind has been on other things but have now found a design for safely refilling the filters. Ive engineered it so it is uni directional which allows one end to be opened to empty the spent DI resin and then refilled using a funnel.

Refillable filters now available £49.99 from the website (see my signature). I will provide £5 standard discount (quote z4forum when purchasing and I will refund £5 back through paypal) for Z4forum members and if we can get list of 10 people together for a group buy I can then do £10 discount.

Would this not do the same job? Using this with bottled water after washing the car?

Hi, I looked into allsorts before settling on this design. It definitely would not work :) .

It takes about 10-15 litres to rinse a car so very pricey to use bottled water! (and bottled water may still mark the car).

Also very slow and painful - can you imagine trying to pump that thing until the car is completely rinsed using only a fine mist lol?

Hi, I supply the filter material at £10/refill (including £2.70 first class p&p). I can supply in bulk even cheaper.

People can source their own also, I would just advise on the whole false economy thing - the stuff I use is more expensive on paper but lasts much longer and filters better than the cheaper stuff kicking around.

Cheers
agree totally with your false economy comment

I used my waterspot filter today.

I'm quite impressed with the results.

It wasn't sunny today so the water did not dry fast, but i've looked at the windows and bodywork closely and not stains.

Not Bad.
