FS Inline water filter for water spots READY TO SHIP

I want to buy a water test meter to see when I need to replace the unit, is this what I need:

Yes, I bought that last night as I saw that the shipping costs on that website was something like £4.50. No thanks.

I wonder once the material has worn out, could I just refil it with that?
 
Got mine now.

Water from tap: 175
Bottled Destilled water for Iron: 79 (what a cheek !!!)
Dehumidifier water: 6

So .. no more bottled water for the iron, only Dehumidified from now on :)
 
Ok, my first unit is "dead" now (reading 39 ppm) and stains the car.

So, this is what I got out of mine (final rinse only):

- 2 times VW Polo (30 seconds of hose each time). Third time today (failed).
- 1 time Abarth (30 seconds of hose).
- 1 time X5 (60 seconds of hose).
- 1 time M (30 seconds of hose).

Starting tap value: 175 ppm

This worked out at about £3 per rinse then (I was one of the early adopters so paid the higher price).

Worked great whilst it worked, but too expensive per use for me.

I will look at the refillable units now with the 11 litre vessels to see how much that works out as.
 
Thanks for the feedback - albeit really dissappointing results from 175ppm :(

My water is the same and I got 150 litres in tests - flow rates from hoses are about 1 litre every 10 seconds so that would mean you only got 15 litres - There a chance the unit is starting to channel so unfiltered water is passing straigh through the filter. Give it a shake and firmly tap one end on the floor to get it compacted down again. Fingers crossed this works!

Andy,i have bought 2 of the early ones(unlabed,etc,and no connectors). Given the bad weather since i bought,in oct,i havnt actually got round to using them/been using a mates warm water pressure washer,when i can.....been freezing up here,lol

Any chance i could get some of the connectors popped in the post to me,as i would struggle to source them as cheap as u have.
4 connectors for £1??

Hi all, everyone who has bought filters should receive a PM but just incase you dont see it we have received some important information from a supplier about how to maximise the life:

1 Excess water can be drained as usual but internal material should always remain damp. It is therefore recommended that the ends of the filter are either covered with tape etc or the filter left in-line beween washes to prevent this happening.

We are looking to provide some blanking caps ASAP but in the meantime I wanted to let you know and apologise for this information not being included originally.

2, channels may open up in the filter over time which could make the filter appear to have failed when it still has some useful life left. Firmly tap one end of the filter against the ground prior to use so that the material inside the filter will be compacted back down.

Would just like to thank Paul (pvr) for providing some good feedback which has prompted me to extract this information from the supplier.

Took a reading after that which came at 86 ppm.
 
sounds like the material has dried out and has lost volume creating space for it to move about in the filter. Really sorry you werent told of this when purchasing the filter, hope the second filter lasts longer.

Please can everyone cover the ends to make sure they do not dry out. Apologies again for this late storage requirement, I was not informed of this by my supplier at the time of purchase.

FWIW
prior to above guidance my tap water was 266 ppm and I was getting 90 ppm from filter so expect to improve on that with new info

90ppm is high post filter and would indicate the unit has failed or is/channeling. Has this always been the case or have the readings crept up?

Only just got the meter you recommended .....don't have a problem I was just about to buy the very pricey one and have just moved to the land of concrete water from silky Devon so happy with
I will follow new guidance ,happy it will work in this aggressive water environment

No after several but probably allowed to dry out

I do use a blower to dry then towel dry and although I agree but compared to 266 out the tap 90 is a great improvement and I will try the new guidance
