Thats some short owership!

Thats a lot of car for the money though. GLWTS.

Thanks aquazi. All paid up for the next 12 months so in no real rush. Just feel like I should be doing something in the meantime should an opportunity come up.

Quick question:

How does the 335i compare to the Z4M engine?

Both have the same power and the apparent lack of torque in the 335i makes it a great engine.

I am asking as I have an 08 335i Coupe arriving next week.

335i is more refined in its delivery but with similar energy and urgency when needed. Not as quick of course, but pretty close and much easier to master. Twin turbos are extremely good fun but although it's sold as a no-lag solution, coming from the ///M I could notice a very slight hesitation when you accelerate harder than normal. Nothing ridiculous and I'm sure most people wouldn't notice but there's a definite split second gap that isn't present in the naturally aspirated ///M. I actually think the torque in the 335 is pretty matched but then that might be the way I drive! Just make sure you check the waste gates for rattle on the overun (new turbos).

You'll enjoy it :driving:

Great answer!

I meant lack of lag not torque in my post!!!

What do you mean by turbos rattling?

No problem shawna. As I say, there is lag but it's minimal and the torque and power it throws back at you is phenomenal; really pushes you back in your seat!

As for the turbo rattle, this was an identified fault that meant the arms that opened and closed the wastegate valves on the turbos could become loose and rattle on the rev overrun. Check out this video (not my car!) for the sound.

Rev the car and if you hear a rattle from under the front that sounds like a piece of heat shield is really loose, then there's an issue and it's a 10 hour job/not cheap; hence me buying a 335i with assurances and warranty from BMW! There have been fixes via software updates which delay the valve opening but that in itself has seen reports of huge turbo lag being added. The only real solution is to replace both turbos.

Don't let that scare you though. These are truly great cars and you'll always hear about the ones with issues and not the ones without.

Better photos added (and amended on PH link) to show the car without roofbars.

Looks better without the bars :) Our tourer will be on the web shortly :? probably won't bother with roofbox pic

Looks lovely Mr.W. What you hoping to get for it out of interest?

Never greedy when selling but then i'm never fussy on spec/colours/mileage or trim level when buying so usually get what i want for price i want to pay .
. More important to me is the right engine with the right owners & history
56 330d SE auto 92k FSH with zero faults & zero spend required in next 9000 miles / £7500 would take the car. Which i think is cheap ? some may not

Amazing car.

Sound is awesome, paddle shift is amazing, hard not to get traction to kick in when under throttle.

I fell over your thread regarding the MPG on e90post this morning. I'm guessing that coming from an M the MPG won't have anything to do with the sale.

Good luck selling it. A Z4 is entirely doable if you only have 1 child and another car in the family. However, be prepared for the massive frustration of always having to leave it on the drive and take the boring family wagon on any family trips. That and baby number 2 did me in the end.

The "boring family wagon" can be quite a buzz  have just spent 1700 miles (another 600 tomorrow) in ours & have to say the remap i had before we left was money well spent :driving:

Lee - yeah, I know. I'm more of a motoring voyeur on anything other than Z4-Forum :)

Mowflow - mpg is pretty good on a run and 30mpg, with spirited hooning bringing back around 24mpg. Funnily enough I took it out today in the sun and it raised a lot if smiles and sounds lovely with the twin turbos.
