Frustrating cup holder!

Hi

Can anyone tell me why the cup holder in my Z4C has a ratchet on the passenger side but not the drivers side? I can make it smaller on the passenger side to fit cans, bottles etc but the one on the drivers side doesn't! Basically nothing will sit in it without falling out

They both should have a ratchet but they are rubbish cupholders and easy to break

That would make sense, my drivers one doesn't have one Looks like I will need to get a new one...
