Frugal Coupe!

I had a 40 mile motorway journey today- and the M5 southbound was rammed, as you would expect on first day of holidays!

Travelling at a steady 75-80mph ( when not blocked by middle lane morons!) with the occasional blip to 90 to relieve boredom, fuel computer was showing 43.5mpg. Not too shabby!

That's with Shell Nitro , Archoil pro fuel system cleaner , Archoil friction modifier/oil additive ( both added last june- not cheap) .

I know some people think even the fuel ( never mind the Archoil stuff which I rate highly from use in other cars i've had) is snake oil but I beg to differ!

I've noticed that the inside of my exhaust is still shiny and clean after 6000 miles and not black like most other cars!

Don't go thinking i am some Miss Daisy though, my coupe gets driven "enthusiastically" plenty of times but I am still impressed that when held back and just plodding on, you've got good economy as well!

Have you got a link to the exact fuel additive you use, would be interested to check it out thanks

If you go onto the Powerenhancer site and click on Archoil 6400d pro petrol cleaner and Archoil AR9100 friction modifier, you will find all the information and analysis.

They usually have discount codes over easter as well. :)

I think the 'd' prefix denotes a diesel version, so don't get that one.

Just try to find some unbiased or independent testing before you put any super-miracle-fluid in your tank (I couldn't find any).

The last cleaner (BG44) I tried took my Alfa diesel down from 55mpg average (over 6 months) to 50mpg (over 6 months).

Since then I had the system Terracleaned and doing my normal 500 miles a week it can feel sluggish one day, and super-fast another - despite using the same fuel. It can also deliver 45mpg or 55mpg on the same 4 hour drive - purely down to how I'm subconsciously driving it.

Just researching products at the moment,
Wondering if theses type of products are worth using, especially on a car that is running well and always using high octane fuel with additives already in it

Well, I can only speak from personal experience but I've always had positive results. Never said anything about "super-miracle-fluid" and they don't either!! But my engine seems to be that much more economical and runs really clean.

There is some research and development information on the site which is interesting and informative. My Coupe is due its yearly oil change soon, so it will be getting another hit of the Archoil 9100 and 6400 petrol cleaner in the tank!

The inside of my exhaust is real clean as well and not "carbd" up like lots of others.

Just posting my experiences- that's all!!
