Frozen windows

So that's the first of many frosty mornings for me, what's the easiest and quickest way to get in the car when the windows are frozen shut? Must be a technique to this. Don't say leave it in the garage overnight 😂
 
You could try lubricating the rubbers, or spray de-icer on the windows before trying to open
 
I used to pour cold tap water on the seals and down the window. It’s only a few degrees above freezing

A drop of washing up liquid on your finger, rubbed along the top of the window where it touches the rubber seal

Thanks guys much appreciated. Have done obewans tip right away thats a great idea...and will get some of that Gummi stuff asap.
 
Found a place called micksgarage on e bay is selling 2 x Gummi 100ml for £17, £3 discount code pops up. Hope I'm not breaking rules here, please delete if so mods....
 
Any silicone-based grease/wax/liquid will do fine, also silicone spray applied to fingers/rag then applied to seals. Alternatively, a small pot of silicone grease from ebay for the same money applied with a finger is my current choice.

Save yourself money by not buying the overpriced GummiFlege and just get a tube of the cheap stuff from Lidl. Costs a couple of quid, is basically the same and is just as good. I heard BMW GF is now water-based instead of silicone based.

Your comment on GummiFlege may explain a lot Chris. I bought some a while ago and it did no good at all in stopping the windows freezing to the seals.
Hence why I resorted to a smear of washing up liquid (as advised on a thread on here)
I'll go and check what it says on the bottle - it may have been 'operator error' :D
 
I bought that gummi stuff on that deal, used once never used again. Couldn't see what difference it made.
I just used Triplewax tyre shine (not silicon based) and all the rubbers came back subtle, soft and black. Yet to see if it stops any jams, but i would normally just use cold water.

NOOOOOOOO silicone will cause endless streaking if it gets on the glass and transferred to the rubber weather seals that the window slides through. Lots of specialist rubber lubricants are available, most are better than the gummi stuff.

As for GummiFlege, well I've used it before and thought it did no good in stopping my drivers widow from sticking, but thought I'd give it another go this year and..... bloody waste of time, glass frozen solid this morning. Warm fingers pressed into the glass all around the extremities and hey-presto works perfectly now :thumbsup:
 
Pity we couldn't remote start and warm up the car like what i have seen on the F-Type. But would that be illegal UK?
 
OK so went out this morning and although the windows were not stuck this time once I started driving I got the occasional squeaking from the roof seals on the rear deck. All rubbers were treated with gummy phlegm :rofl: this year and have, yet again, done no good. At least the squeaking stopped after a while.
