Frozen Stereo/Nav

Hello!

I'm having a bit of trouble with my BMW Sat Nav, i started the car the other day and i was unable to do anything with the sat nav or the stereo. No buttons would work or move. i just have the Menu Screen showing Sat Nav, Telephone, tv etc I get no sound, nothing!

I have left the car overnight and its still jammed... one interesting thing is that sometimes when i start the car the BMW Logo comes on screen and the sat nav appears to have rebooted but still have the same problem but strangely sometimes the DSP menu will show in the menu and other times it wont... Yesterday the radio did start working briefly but as soon as i went into the DSP menu it froze again!! :?

I disconnected the battery for 2 minutes but the alarm kept going off so i reconnected but it didnt solve my issue :( i have also tried removing the Sat Nav and radio fuses. But i am starting to think the problem is with the DSP....

Maybe i need to leave the battery disconnected for longer?? how do i do that without the alarm going off? :(

Thanks for all your help in advance :D

ok so i disconnected the battery for a good 40 minutes and still no difference... also i have removed and reinistalled the dsp amp and tested all the fuses that i can think of that relate to the radio/nav.

I have concluded the sat nav works as it spins disc, tells me the road etc.

Is it possible the radio/cd head unit bit has become faulty? this would explain, no button control and no sound..

I had the same issue yesterday after messing around with my stereo/iPod adaptor

I resolved it by disconnecting the battery then reseated all the connectors behind the stereo

Worth a go unless you have already tried this

I removed and reinstalled the head unit and it made no difference the whole system is still frozen.

But yesterday while driving along the DSP menu re appeared on the nav screen and the whole system worked again for 30 seconds then the DSP menu disappeared again and it all froze again.

So I think I need to try another DSP amp... Does anyone have one???
Or I could try another head unit... Does anyone have one???

And lastly my audio guy suggested u get the fault codes read off the car, his guy can't do it till next month :o is anyone on here available to do it

Please help :?

Thanks
