Frozen paint finishes

How easy are the frozen paint finishes to maintain, and do they mark easily?

I havnt found them difficult at all..

Ive had my Frozen Orange car for about 3 years now, and its been the easiest car to keep clean ive ever owned, but it is a second car.

Just DONT use any polish on it, use specific cleaners for matt painted cars..

I have been told they can be problematic if scratched, but ive had mine done with PPF matt ppf...So hopefully its protected...

If do a search on hear there are a few threads about frozen painted cars...

So you bought a frozen paint and then had a matte PPF put on? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but what's the point of that? Wouldn't putting a matte PPF on a regular paint accomplish the same result without the expense of the frozen paint?
 
Yes.. So if I had put normal ppf on the frozen look would've become glossy...
I had it fitted to protect from stone chips and scratches etc,, Yes you could just put matt ppf on a glossy car, and you would have a "frozen" look...
 
One man’s meat is another man’s poison, or so the saying goes. I really don’t like these frozen finishes. They always look like bad paint jobs to me. However, I know lots of folk like them. It wouldn’t do if we all liked the same thing would it?😀

I agree, generally, but I saw an M40i in a frozen grey and thought it looked good in a slightly odd way. It ticked a lot of other boxes, so I was more intrigued than anything to be honest.
 
@Phillies8008, the frozen orange was a G29 a launch colour available on first edition models only and was also the colour used to launch at Pebble Beach in 2018
 
@True-Blue, I was more than tempted to go with the frozen grey as it was a no cost option with the handschalter pack, but I chickened out. I don't really regret making that choice, because I just absolutely love the car every time I'm in it, and the colour wouldn't change that.
 
Just out of interest. Does the frozen finish affect the resale value?
I guess it might either limit the market,, OR enhance the market, I suppose it depends if somebody wants one in frozen paint... As there are more "normal" painted versions on the market...
Some love it, others hate it, bit of a marmite finish....
I personally love it.
Its different.
Its a talking point at car meets,
I find it easier to keep clean, and look after.

When I was looking for a M40i, I had shortlisted a Red one or Blue one in normal glossy paint, but then my Frozen Orange one came up at a local dealers.
I only went to have a test drive of a M40i, and was instantly hooked on the color...:cool::cool::driving::driving:
The rest is history, as they say...

It may affect the resale value if it pushes up the insurance cost. Not all insurance companies will cover wraps and those that do often charge extra. I assume this could also apply to a paint job that is classed as a modification fromt the original. You could just not declare of course but that runs the risk of the insurance being voided if claimed on - with all the associated problems that brings. Just a thought, others may have more knowledge/experience.

What matters is that you love the colour and are delighted with the car. We all have different tastes and preferences. Enjoy it.👍
 
I have read some horror stories on other forums with regard to 'matt' paint finishes. Any tiny scratch on the paintwork is a nightmare. Your local "chipsaway" bloke will run a mile, as will the vast majority of bodyshops.

Personally don't see the attraction of a car that can't ever be shiny. I thought that was the whole point in having paint on a car.
 
Very happy with mine, especially since I found out it was fully ceramic coated and front and doors PPF protected. Wash with Gtechiq product for frozen paint and dry. With the PPF any slight scratches can be removed with a hair dryer so I am told although not needed to try it myself.
 
@Nanu My ex works for a company that sells various PPF films/vinyl wrap wholesale, so goes to trade shows and manufacturer demo’s etc.

There’s a couple of those self-healing films that are very expensive, but amazingly durable. They were scratching one up with a Brillo pad and when heated it literally ‘self-repaired’, not a single mark. If you’ve got that fitted that’s a definite bonus, I think the front end of a G29 is easily north of £1500 for that type of PPF.

Only found out it was coated with the self healing PPF by chance. Was considering getting it ceramic coated and enquired with the dealer I got it from, they contacted the original owner who contacted me. He had it collected from the dealership and professionally coated by a top end London retailer. I contacted them who said it was still covered by their guarantee. They said the full ceramic coat and PPF cost upwards of £5K. Just as well the dealership wasn’t aware of that when they sold it to me😎
