Frost inside....windshield gasket leak?

Hi, I have a 2004 z4 that, like most cars, had a cracked/deteriorating window moulding. I brought my car into my trusted mechanic for an unrelated CEL and he noticed the deteriorating moulding and suggested that, since the moulding is so bad, there is a good possibility that the adhesive is deteriorating and that I should get both the windshield and adhesive replaced.

Usually, I would just ignore the suggestion, as I have the moulding at home, ready for a spring replacement. However, this winter (the coldest/snowiest on record) I had to store the car outside and, when I had to move the car, I did notice some light frost on the steering wheel and the upper portion of the drivers dash. Could this be indicative of a a breach in the windshield/frame barrier?

I should also that this mechanic is not in the habit of recommending unnecessary repairs. And, he would not benefit (at least directly) as windshield replacement is usually covered 100% by insurance.

So...what I am really asking is...could the frost be indicative of adhesive failure...and should I get the windshield re-set (not sure why I'd want to replace the windshield, since it's in great condition).

I would replace the moulding if that has deteriorated but the windscreen and adhesive will be fine.

The rest could be down to a number of things like being stored outside, leak from door membrane etc.

general damp inside (could be just the carpet off your wet boots) will cause condensation on cold parts especially the inside of the windscreen which will turn into frost as the temp drops
