Front wishbone rear poly bushes fitted

Fitted new bushes today.
In comparison with the last time i fitted the bushes this was a breeze. I had no difficulty getting the old bushes to part company with the wishbone.
The bushes certainly wear rapidly so have gone for pre-fitted poly type.
What a difference. The niggling steering issues I have been having are gone!

The old girl is driving like new :trampoline:

Funnily enough i did the exact same thing on Saturday , its great to have that planted feeling back

Did mine last weekend aswell! I brought the powerflex polybushes though and fitted them in the original lollipops.

Has really tightened up the steering!

+1 a great upgrade I went for the branded power flex ones which were slightly more expensive but I'm sure they are the same thing, but they made a huge difference glad your happy with the result

Thanks guys. I have updated the 'How to' with a few pic's and modified some of the text shorten the job.
You don't have to remove the front plastic under tray just the 3 fastners that hold the tray to the x-member :roll:

Issues
Steering wander especially at around 60mph. The torque sensor seemed to be telling the EPS to assist the steering on and off.(its like some one else is trying to turn the wheel its very odd) I now believe due to play on the bushes especially the near side.
The usual vibration under braking
Vague and self steering.
Now
Car seems firm and planted.......... much more confident feel. No excessive harshness

had mine replaced not so long back, went for the pre fitted powerflex in lollipops (so i have a spare set of the original metal housings if there any use to anybody?)

the difference after they were fitted was noticeable! great upgrade

Almost 100% sure.......... e85 shares alot of running parts with e46 ...great way to get cheaper parts!
try 'real oem' to absolutely confirm part numbers

Once you have the part number you can search by part and then xref where its fitted to other BMW models. Great for looking for bits in the breakers yards

Thanks for the reply Toe-side, having some work done on the zed next week CDV delete, service etc. So i will have them replace mine with these if they will fit my zed. I also am having the annoying steering prob @60mph + so if the bushes work with mine and stops the described probs i will be a bit chuffed.

Well, got me zed back from service etc. Had new poly bushes fitted, WOW! what a difference, the car feels superb NO MORE TWITCHY FEEL at @60-80 mph well planted and WELL CHUFFED! :lol:

Also, had them swap the timing chain tensioner for new, and that has cured the dreaded rattle on start up! WELL CHUFFED! :lol:

They removed the CDV but cannot say there is any difference, but the only prob i had with the clutch is a slight judder when cold, so happy anyway.

One downer they found was i need a new oil cap, no biggy just gonna order a new one from BMW.

So all in all im well chuffed.

Anyone who needs a good BMW indie around the east mids go to Steve Slattery in loughborough they are EXCELLENT!
